Yeah, yeah! If he had weakly said, "Please... stop hitting me..." like he did in Kill Bill, it would've been even better. ;D
I was impressed by this week's episode, too. It was all about Desmond, who I think was probably the only good thing to come out of Season 2, and it brought the mystery back.
How creepy was it when Mrs. Mills from The Others showed up and got all philosophical? She was the creepiest thing about that movie and here she was (a face-lift and a haircut later), popping up and forcing Des to inquire what she was "on about"... Good stuff.
My biggest issue with this new information is the continuity. If Des always had these powers, then why didn't he know what was going to happen with the hatch and all of that? Or did he? I don't remember off-hand, but I hope it lines up with what we've already seen of him. I always hate when writers introduce a supposed ever-present trait for the sake of one episode (or, in this case, a season of a show trying to regain its footing with its ever-shrinking fanbase...). Like on "Friends" when they gave Rachel the "gossip" tendency for one episode, but implied that it was a problem so rampant that she had to make a New Year's resolution to stop doing it. Hmmm...
And that's what's so good about, say, M. Night Shyamalan's films - you can actually go back and see pre-existing evidence that supports the twist at the end... It's cool to be shown what you've missed.
But if history doesn't support it at all, it ruins the credibility of the story... at least for me.
Any "Quantum Leap" fans out there? I'm pretty sure that Des's revelation to Charlie at the end of the episode was lifted from the JFK episode of "QL"... Oh, well. It worked then, so why not pitch it to a new crowd?
It was nice to see our now-doomed Charlie featured prominently in an episode. It's been a while...

Okay.... I finally was able to watch this past week's episode of LOST, and I've got to say that I enjoyed it. My brother-in-law thought it was too slow paced and too much yammering.
I love Desmond and will never complain about seeing him naked in the Jungle... lol/smile. However, I really liked the twist at the end, if you will. I was just commenting about not caring as much about the mystery of the Island anymore, but that has changed after this last episode. I'm back in LOST mode now. Maybe it was the long hiatus. I'm now back to being excited about seeing what the Island has in store for me each week.
Okay... gotta run or I'll be late for my movie.
Ciao peoples... Dew

What did we think of last week's episode, kids?
I was not overly impressed. I still don't trust Juliet any further than I can throw her. But is Jack just playing her???
They're promising a good water-cooler episode this week - we'll see if they come through.

I'm with you, NBJ. I do not trust a single thing said or done by any of those smug book club attendees. I trust my man Jack, but it's pretty obvious from frame one of Juliet's appearance that she was written to be Jack's new love interest.
Overall, I've been pretty disappointed in this whole season. I still hang on with a shred of hope here and there, though. At least Heroes actually answers questions now and then...

I was disappointed in all the hype about the "three big mysteries" that the episode was supposedly going to reveal. Come on, we find out the meaning of Jack's tattoo?
Was that ever actually a legitimate mystery? I don't remember it being an issue before this episode.
And the other two were ... what? The children who were kidnapped are fine? They only work, don't live, on the island where they're holding Jack?
Don't build up an episode with the promise of huge revelations and then pull THAT!
I hope Juliet turns out to be good, but yeah, I concur, she's still sketchy.
I read an article in EW where the producers know exactly what they want to happen in the Series Finale, so it's a matter of building towards that.
Plus, they said they don't want to keep dragging the series out beyond what is necessary to tell the complete story. One of them said episode 100 would be the perfect stopping point, but the plan right now is to not go past 5 seasons.
So with all that being said, I have faith we'll get all the answers, and my satisfaction will ultimately lie in the payoff.

GREAT episode tonight. Who's with me?
With the exception of Hurley's flashbacks (which I thought were a bit over-the-top)... on the island, there was fun interaction, a little bit of hope, and some "Shambala"! I haven't smiled or laughed that much during a LOST episode in a while. ;D Maybe it was due to the fact that all of the most likable characters were present - and so true to their personalities - in this one.
It was a nice break from the seriousness of the whole "the Others" plot line.
I approve. Back on track? Hmmm... as much as I'd like to have *hope*, I'm not sure she'll stay running... (so to speak.)

GREAT episode tonight. Who's with me? I agree. I really enjoyed the interaction betweem Sawyer and Hurley. Sawyer had some great nicknames, and Hurley's attempt at a comeback was particularly funny ("Red ... neck ... man.") And the presence of Kate is ALWAYS a good thing. It was a welcome bit of comic relief. Now I'm ready for a knockdown, drag-out rescue attempt.

Whoa - all I had to do was mention Toy Soldiers in another post, and the major bad guy shows up on LOST this week...

I concur... I liked this week's episode quite a lot. Then again, I'm not as completely frustrated with it as others (no pun intended) seem to be.
Some episodes have been more exciting than other ones... as NJB said, this weeks was fun and had some good character interactions. I think that it may indeed be getting back on track... I'm ready for some rescue attempts.
Tangent now... (it is in my name -and nature-after all)...
Laslo... I'm going to have to give you the "Are you Crazy" look right about now. True, answer some questions it does- ones you can guess, but I've gotta say that Heroes is completely boring me. I think that LOST may have had some slower paced, semi-snoozer / lackluster episodes here and there, but overall... the writing is far superior. Not that you were really comparing them or anything. smile.
I look forward to next week's episode of LOST and I'm going to just put it out there and say it's going to be good and satisfying. If not, I won't go off on any tangents for a week.
Speaking of... A week without witty name calling by Sawyer??? That takes a lot of fun out of it doesn't it? That's some of the most entertaining banter on the show.
Just my humble opinion.

Okay, I STILL don't know what happened to Jin, Sun, and Sayid on that sailboat before the hiatus! They never showed their escape! The last thing I remember seeing was Sayid and Jin running to the boat after hearing Sun's gunshot ring out.
Wouldn't "The Others" have had something to say about Sun blowing away one of their people? So, what happened after that? Was there a fight? And what happend to the boat?
Did I miss something?
Oh, and I was disappointed in this week's episode. They had an opportunity to introduce a new angle with the guy supposedly from the original Dharma Initiative team... but he turned out to be just another "Other"? Come on!

I forgot all about the boat and gunshot. I thought I've seen every episode this season; maybe I missed something too.
Is it just me or is this season just not as crazy awesome as previous seasons? They say that they are going to give answers and the answer turns out to be some little kid asking about Anna Lucia. That's just not the kind of answer I want. But then I suppose if they were to give me all the answers I might not tune in every week. How many more seasons do you think they can go?

I agree about the sailboat cliffhanger. They just dropped that completely! Me very confused.
However, I very much liked last week's episode. I thought it was a good combination of comic relief amongst the island regulars (loved the ping pong match and Sawyer referring to Xerxes as "Zorro) and story development.
How could you not get excited when Sayid punked out Eye Patch and then Kate kicked him upside the face?
I wish Locke would learn not to be so curious, or to at least consult with everybody else before deciding on his own that it's a good idea to just start pushing buttons.
I like the direction everything's going.
As for how much longer the show can go, I read an article where the producers already know what the series finale is going to be. One of them said the ideal stopping point would be episode 100, but that would be about 12 episodes into the 5th season, so they don't know if they can get away with that.
However, they are working with ABC about when to end the series because they don't want to keep dragging it out just for the sake of milking a cash cow. So the plan seems to be to end it at season 5.

***-***SPOILER AHEAD***-*** I won't/wouldn't view it until season 5... I'm already at my point of getting bored with it.. not from too many episodes, but story-wise.. I suggest they pull a "prison break" on it, let them *finally* get off the island, and perhaps continue after that, on the main land, with who knows what.. but, for god's sake , get them of the d**n island. How long does it take for Desmond's wife to get there with the cavalry ? If the crashies/losties are so darn interrupting the life of the others, why not just take/abduct them all, put'm in the submarine and ship'm off ? Why are the losties staying on the island and not try to sail away with a good crew and come back with help ? Hell, why didn't the others radio the mainland in the first place and told them where the losties are and retrieve them, navy seal style ?? I'll leave the plot whole questions open... But what really did it for me, is episode 13's cliffhanger with Locke's father .. what the @#|@ I'm a pretty open-minded and imaginary-filled kind off guy. I can dig stuff on the island and won't ask to many questions and just enjoy the show... but do you REALLY want me to believe they transfer(ed) Locke's dad over there just for a showdown .. or he "accidentally" turns up on the island .. OH PAHLEASE, COME ON !!!?? please end it .. now .. so you can quit with a bit of dignity

Okay, let me just say that the producers of LOST are obviously reading this thread. I asked for M. Night Shyamalan-esque continuity flashbacks, and this week's episode was full of 'em.
And I also complained about Nikki and Paulo - and look what happened! (Yay! ;D)
...Although, that might not be over, I guess.
Anyway, I thought the episode was great. I'd wager to say that I'm almost completely back on board with the show.
I loved it when Sun got her revenge, and a little part of me enjoyed when Desmond reported that "Nikki" had been with Sawyer earlier that day. Oh, if only he was talking about this Nikki...
(I can't believe I just used the "kissy" smiley... I've disgusted myself. )
I'm sure JB enjoyed the preview of next week's catfight between his two favorite ladies on the show...

At first I thought Nikki and Paolo were the Rosencrantz and Guildenstern of Lost. But, upon further reflection, I realized they were the Forrest Gumps of Lost, wandering aimlessly into the backgrounds of key scenes, but not contributing a single thing.
