Looked like Datura. It's a kind of ancient LSD people took to experience vivid hallucinations.
I read about it in some books, but I've never done the stuff. I imagine that's what it was...

With this week's episode, I'm inching even further toward restored faith in the series.
It only took 'em 3 episodes to realize that a Sawyer episode is the way to win back the fans... He's just - that - good.

Fear not, tangentgirl. In an effort to show as many episodes in a row as possible, the producers are showing large blocks of episodes with six week gaps in between. I guess this is due to the complaints they received from fans who were sick of on again off again episodes every other week.
The show will pick up in January, and should run more or less uninterupted for a long stretch.

Well... we're headed into a long stretch without Lost, and all I can say is:
feel free to sing along
Some things on Lost are bad They can really make you mad The Others just make you swear and curse. When you're chewing on Lost's gristle Don't grumble, give a whistle And this'll help things turn out for the best...
Aaaaannndd... Always look on the bright side of Lost Always look on the bright side of Lost
If Lost seems jolly rotten Then there's something you've forgotten And that is Kate is hot and Locke is still the king. If you're angry at the show To The Office you can go! We still have Jim and Pam without a ring
Aaaannnnnd... Always look on the bright side of Lost Always look on the bright side of Lost
For Lost is quite absurd At least that's what I've heard But one must face cliffhangers everyday Forget about plot holes-- they'll shake your very soul Just enjoy it-- it's the last season anyway.
SOooooooo Always look on the bright side of Lost Always look on the bright side of Lost
*insert whistles*
Thank you... thank you... I'll be here all week. Try the veal.

*clap clap* Wow, Laslo, we appreciate you offering such a heartwarming ditty to help deal with the three-month layoff that we now face.
I liked that Jack pulled the power play (via the elbow to the face) and turned the tables. Buck from Kill Bill better get a Sawyer beatdown once they return from hiatus.
It's funny because lots of fans last season were complaining about the constant repeats, so Lost's new schedule was indeed an attempt to appease them. However, now everybody is complaining because of how long it'll be off the air.
That's just how it works. You've got a certain amount of weeks to show your episodes. So if you have 34 weeks to air 22 episodes, then you've gotta figure out how to mix in those 12 empty weeks. Producers decided to do it all at once this season.
If y'all watched through the closing credits then you know the deal. If not then Lost will return on February 7 (two days before my birthday - hint hint) and will air new episodes for 16 straight weeks.

I prefer the way 24 has been doing it-- start in January and run straight through till May. It's a heckuva long wait, but it's a great way to begin the new year.

On this side of the ocean, we always get all shows in one stretch O.o never heard or experienced stops in shows .. it feels .. weird .. to me, to say the least.. About Lost, I though they would just cliffhang the show with Jack doing surgery, never though he'd pull off the stunt they showed .. cowabungahuh ??!!! (See how i made a verb of a cliffhanger). I like how he's power tripping and thinking he's got them in control heheheh. I look forward to seeing his face when Kate/sawyer declares : "uhm jack ?! nowhere to go unless with a boat" "yousaidawhatnow???" Also looking forward to Locke's face when he'll realize (somehow) they (jack, kate, sawyer) are on the other island(s) Anyone else think Sawyer and Kate had to be really REALLY R.E.A.L.L.Y hot to go "unka unka" in front of those camera's all over the place Let alone possibly being busted at any time. I wonder what Ben was doing while looking at the camera

Lost is back on people... where's the love? (J.B.-- insert Fergie's adam's apple and Justin Timberlake voices here) sp? ? Anyhoo.... No thoughts on the show??? I'll give you all a week and then I'll be forced to carry on long conversations with myself in this small virtual room. Okay... already feeling claustrophobic...

Well, I'll talk about it! Of course, I will be forced to vent my frustrations about the ways in which the season seems to be going. I hate to say it, but I have been reduced to one thing and one thing only: wishing pain and suffering on Benry Gale and his happy little book club. I find myself not caring so much about mythology, secrets, or anything else--I just want them to hurt. A lot.
But, I am still watching and hoping.

I'm one to talk... I didn't watch it last night... dvr'd it though... gonna watch it in just a moment... so I can then come back and discuss. I must say that the bus scene from last week's flashback was interesting. This book-club, as you call them.... I still want to find out about them; however, I see your point and I'm an episode behind.
I, too, am caring less about the mystery behind them and more about some justice/revenge being doled out.
I'll be back later, hopefully w/ some fresh thoughts.

Last week's episode...
There were two "holy crap" moments for me:
1) When dude got hit by the bus. I knew after Juliette made her comment that he'd end up being killed, but still, when it actually happened it took me by surprise.
2) Juliette shooting dude (Buck from Kill Bill). I figured she'd show up and stare him down with the gun, but I wasn't expecting her to kill him immediately.
I was cheering pretty loudly when Sawyer was laying the smack down on Buck. Bout time!
This week's episode...
Welp, I'm thoroughly back on track with the mystery. I have to admit that Desmond's "deja vu" has piqued my curiosity. Talk about raising a lot of questions.
In the flashback, were we watching what actually happened with Desmond, his girlfriend, and the psychic woman or was all of that just his life flashing before his eyes after he turned the key?
If so then I don't understand the inclusion of the psychic since she wouldn't have actually been part of his life. But if that was a flashback of what actually happened in Desmond's life then I'm really eager to get an explanation for Desmond's "deja vu," "time travel," or whatever it is.
Here's a theory - does anybody think that what we're watching is just virtual reality? Perhaps there's no island at all. No real plane crash. Maybe everybody is part of an experiment or perhaps they've paid to be part of a virtual reality adventure.
That would explain Locke's ability to walk and Walt's ability to summon polar bears with his mind. Maybe everybody has a certain amount of time to play the game before they're pulled out (or virtually "killed"). Kind of like putting your coins in an arcade. As soon as you stop it's game over.
I hope that's not the case because I want there to be a real-world answer.

I have many of the same questions, JB. I was confused as to whether we were seeing Desmond's actual memories, an island-influenced dream, or whether it was time travel. I don't think they explained it very well, in my opinion. And I know it's Lost, and answering questions isn't really high on their list of priorities, but I still feel that it could have been handled a little better. Not that it wasn't cool, and not that Desmond isn't a good character, but still...
