As some of you may know, I just moved ... since I don't have a job yet, I've actually been watching some t.v. --- saw a promo teaser for this new series.
I was intrigued... could be really good. Could be awful. I am going to try to remember to check it out.
Anyone else have any thoughts or predictions?

If done right, this could be a very cool show. My only fear is this: after watching a couple of previews for this, I found the plausibility factor lacking on one of the Heroes "powers." Specifically, the guy who paints things before they actually happen. According to the preview I saw, he has painted a flaming car crash three weeks before it acutally occurs.
Now, if I discovered that I had that power, I wouldn't paint flaming car crashes. I would be much more likely to paint something a bit more positive... something like me and Evangeline Lilly in a hot tub and surrounded by the piles of cash I won tax-free in the lottery.
But that's just me.

We got cards to download a free episode on I-tunes when we went to see The Illusionist this weekend. Since neither Mr. C nor I have an I-pod (seriously, I know we're behind the times, but $300 for that? I have better things to spend my money on...though Mr. C has decided he needs to get one apparently), we haven't watched it yet, but maybe he'll get our friend to download it.
Anyway, it looks pretty good to me. It's got Greg Grumbel from Alias, who I really like, and my favorite, Jess from Gilmore Girls (Milo I'm not even going to try to spell his last name). The other actors that I have seen before are pretty good, so I am definitely going to give this one a chance.

Hmmm... when is this show on? Does anyone know. I saw the promo commercials for it and was intrigued, but I know I'll forget to watch it if I don't make myself a note. I figure that it looks interesting enough to give it a chance. I remember rolling my eyes thinking that Smallville would be less than. I was surprised. Don't watch that show, but the few episodes I saw had merit.

Another pilot, another highly anticipated show... another yawn.
While I liked this better than Jericho, I still see this as another attempt by a different network to try and compete with Lost. And they just can't do it. This show takes the whole "all the characters are mystically linked" angle from Lost, mixes it with a pretty blatant plot line from the X-Men about human evolution, and tosses in a little too much M. Night Shamalayn for my taste.
I think the thing that bothered me the most, aside from the fact that NBC showed nearly the entire pilot episode during the promos, was that the dialogue seemed so stilted and forced. Case in point: a kid in NY has dreams he can fly and immediatley goes and tells his older brother he thinks he has the ability to fly. Another guy in Tokyo can stops his clock, (has an apparent orgasm), and sprints down the aisle to tell his co-worker that he now has super powers. Another guy can paint the future, but apparently only after he shoots up on drugs.
To me, it just didn't work. And in a way, I'm glad that this show and Jericho didn't wow me as much as I'd hoped. It's not like I've got time enough to devote to two new shows anyway. This way I can just go back to giving all my emotional energy to My Name is Earl, The Office, and, of course, Lost.

Overall, I have to disagree with Laslo because I enjoyed the show. But what's really piqued my interest is the season-long story. The preview for the coming weeks gave me promise.
I do agree with Laslo's concerns regarding dialogue, and I was especially skeptical at the willingness of Milo "Poor Man's Casey Affleck (ouch)" Ventimochaligia and Japanese dude to so openly discuss their suspicions of having powers, but it's got me interested enough to come back for more, X-men parallels notwithstanding.

I gotta say - I liked it. I found it intriguing. Some things seemed a little stretched (some mentioned above) and the chic who saw something in the mirror - I didn't quite understand her power (maybe I should be riding the short bus) but to be quite honest, none of it makes a whole lot of sense especially if you analyze ithe heck out of it. I'll just keep my disbelief suspended and tune in next week. The cheerleader's dad looks nasty - it should get interesting.

Yeah, you don't want to add too many new shows. Time is precious.
Heroes hasn't it yet but we did get Jericho last week. I was a bit excited at the theme of the show but it turned out to be a bit too patriotic or heroic or something. Plus, I didn't take to any of the characters.
We finally did get 'My Name is Earl' and I knew to watch it because of you guys. At last, a comedy show I like!
I am not familiar with the American version of 'The Office', I only know the English one but I don't follow it regularly as it timeslot jumps.

The American version of the Office is one of the few shows that I like that were originally based on British shows.
I'm glad you are now able to watch my name is Earl as it makes me laugh on the regular.
Now then.... HEROES. I wasn't "wowed", but my interest was piqued enough for me to give it a second shot.
I also gave Studio 60 a second viewing. I will probably continue to watch both of these shows for at least 2 or 3 more episodes to see if either of them might be something I can look forward to as a regular evening break from practice on the steno graph.
We shall see!
Oh... The kidnapped show w/ cutie man Jeremy Sisto (sp??? Cisto?) anyway... that was decent.

I agree. I found it interesting enough -- but I wasn't floored (that would be House which floored me the VERY first episode and STILL does). As a friend of mine has it tivoed, I'll give it a few more episodes before I make my final decision. The Japanese guy is pretty entertaining to watch -- but I really feel for Ali's character. That is not a power I'd appreciate. The artist's power sucks too -- he seems to only paint disasters (exception being the eclispe) and only when he's high? Wow.

I just want to say that the ending of last night's episode made my decision for me. My exact wording when I saw it can't be said on this board, but wow! I won't spoil it in case someone still has it waiting on Tivo, but wow. I'm hooked now (before that, I was just half watching because Mr. C had it on). I'm hoping that because this isn't a J.J. Abrams show, we'll actually get some of our questions answered and mysteries solved eventually.
