What are some flicks that y'all can watch over and over without getting tired of them? You know, you are flipping channels and you see it on TV and can't bring yourself to switch it off? It might not even be that great of a movie. For example, one of mine is Girls Just Want To Have Fun. Yeah that's right, I admit it. Watching Sarah Jessica Parker dance her way into her super-strict father's heart on national TV and sticking it to her snobby schoolmate is always a treat. YEAH THAT'S RIGHT I STILL ADMIT IT!

That's just sad. I'm surprised you've kept this from me for so long. Before I got Tombstone on DVD I'd always stop on it if it was on. Comedies are usually the easiest movies to stop on because you don't have to truly engage yourself in the storyline. So if I come across something like Liar Liar, Tommy Boy, or Billy Madison then it's hard for me to turn to something else.

The Princess Bride. No matter how many times I've seen it, and the fact that I have it on tape, and used to have it on DVD, I have to stop and watch it whenever it's on.
I get pissed at the parts they edit out for TV, then have to put the tape of DVD in and watch it again. But does that stop me the next time I'm flipping through? No...

Heh...Steph, I own that one!
I have such a long list...
Zoolander (although, I really need to get that on DVD, as it is SOOOO much better that way..."Welcome to the exciting world of Dee-vuh-duh").
Bring It On (good thing for me the people at USA are big fans of that one too).
Anything by Hitchcock (especially The Birds, even though it's far from my favorite of his...there's just something about watching it on tv).
Arsnic And Old Lace (not that it ever comes on, but I would stop and watch it every time)
Dirty Dancing, and even though I own them, 10 Things I Hate About You, She's All That, and Ever After...
and the one time per year that The Wizard of Oz comes on tv, even though I already own it on both DVD and Tape.

Heh...Steph, I own that one [Girls Just Want to Have Fun]! BOOYA! How can you not love it, what with its stellar cast? Sarah Jessica Parker, Helen Hunt, Shannen Doherty, Jonathan Silverman! Aww, the poor leading guy hasn't done anything since 1988.

Whilst scanning the channels, I will ALWAYS stop whenever "Smokey and the Bandit" is on. I know, I know... but it remains one of the quintessential "guy" movies of all time.
How can you NOT love a film that features Jerry Reed driving his big rig over a line of Harleys? That has Jackie Gleason's famous line "sum-b****" (changed to "scum-bum" for tv)? That has Burt Reynolds explaining why they should go on this cross-country beer run: "For the good old American spirt, for the glory, for the money, and for the fun. Mostly for the money."
Ahhh... it's good stuff...

"Drop Dead Gorgeous" is one that is still hilarious every time I watch it. I can always watch "Pride and Prejudice" or "Sense and Sensibility". "10 things I Hate About You" is one I remember coming across on TV and even though I owned it, I had to sit and watch it. LOVE that movie. I was just telling JB the other day that it's the only movie Julie Roundface was good in. I can always watch "The Music Man" as well. The "Mummy" movies are on their way to being well- worn as well. Especially the first one.

We bought our first VCR when I was about ten. It was one of those gigantic, clunky ones with huge colorful buttons that came straight off the bridge of the Enterprise. It was basically idiot-proof, which meant that I could tape anything and everything off the TV--which I did.
In between my weekly fare of The A-Team and Airwolf, I happened to record Mel Gibson's The Road Warrior one evening. That was the beginning of a cycle of viewing that extended into the hundreds, if I ever stopped to count.
The funny thing is that I got so accustomed to the TV-edited version of that film, that when I finally saw the original version many, many years later, I didn't like it as much. (I know, that's the polar opposite reaction that most people have.)

Most of the Pink Panther movie I can watch over and over and ver and over... And still everytime I laugh like there's no tomorrow. The same goes for The Party... actually every Peter Sellers movie.
