Australian Ann alerted me to this. Someone on the Express Station messageboard said her friend works in Sony's marketing department and claims they are tentatively scheduled to release season 1 of TYR on DVD sometime in March 2006.
I emailed Ed Spielman (the creator of TYR for those of you who don't know) about this, and he hasn't been informed of this. But keep in mind, that could just mean they haven't gotten to that point of the process yet.
Mr. Spielman said he'd do some asking around to see if he could find out anything.
I'll keep everybody informed. Let yourself be excited - but only moderately so. I'll let you know when you can really go crazy.

I'll get excited when I see it on the shelves at best buy.
I won't even trust the virtual shelves of Amazon.
I *might* trust the words of Ed Spielman. maybe. I guess he would know in the form of a check in his mailbox?

I'm used to people signing up to the board, offering something for sale, and then never posting again. I saw your same DVD offer on a YR message board and jumped the gun and thought you might be trolling. I applaud you for accepting my challenge and posting a 2nd time. Who's your favorite rider? It has to be Hickok, right? RIGHT?!?!

I'm just a new fan (who still cant believe she missed this show when it originally aired!) I only posted the set for trade/sale as I saw some ppl selling it for 100.00 and that is just plain wrong! Way too overpriced and not being nice to the fans in my opinion. I'm offering it for pretty much at cost. It is 18 discs so by the time I figure in the blank media (good quality not the cheapy ones), the shipping supplies and shipping charges. Not too mention the time it takes to burn 18 dvd's. I think I am being pretty reasonable. 55.00 shipped for all 3 seasons (minus 3 episodes)
As for a favorite, I have glanced thru all of the episodes (to check quality) but have really only sat down and watched 4 eps right now all the way through and I'm liking them all lol. Ok ok if I gotta pick one.. hmmm Jimmy is nice... and cody... Buck perhaps? Hickok is really good too. ok I cant pick just one haha.

Here's a tip for you. Skip season 3, except for the finale.

^Ann is a wise woman.
Except for that whole "Hickok" obsession. Pshaw. Well, one can't always have fantastic taste.

^Ann is a wise woman. Except for that whole "Hickok" obsession. Pshaw. Well, one can't always have fantastic taste. Actually, Ann is spot-on with her Hickok obsession. Even though some still refuse to admit it, he totally made the show (along with Cody's comic relief). However, I have to disagree with skipping season 3. I don't know why so many fans are down on it. I think it's because so many people hated the addition of a young Jesse James. I, on the other hand, thought it added an interesting element to the show - especially when Jimmy would yell at him. Season 3, while not as strong as the other 2 seasons, still had some great episodes - especially so many centering on Jimmy. Come on, The Blood of Others was one of the best episodes of the ENTIRE series. You can't deny that. Brolin and James Gammon worked perfectly together. Other highlights include Jimmy confronting Frank James, Jimmy tracking down the men who killed a young boy, Jimmy's brief moment when he relishes the "Wild Bill" moniker, Cody's hilarious story about working for the Pony Express (saying Teaspoon should be named "Shovel" - BWAHAHAHA!), plus "The Sacrifice" is one of my favorite episodes. Man it's hard being right all the time.

the problem is, Johnny dear, that the third season Had fabulous Hickok moments, but no fabulous ensemble cast episodes. It wasn't that Jesse came along, or that Ike left, or that Jimmy didn't have great stories. It was that only Jimmy and Kid had great stories. For those of us that fell in love with the show for the whole gang of riders, the change into the "Jimmy and Kid Hour" wasn't fun. I believe that is why the third season is so frequently dissed.

JB, I am with you in your opinion of the third season. It was missing some of that ensemble feel, but it still had some great episodes (Blood of Others and The Sacrifice are also two of my favorites, along with Goodnight Sweet Charlotte). Maybe it's because I started watching right at the end of the second season, so season three was what really sold the show to me, or maybe because it is really just GOOD. And artino2, even if you decide you DON'T like Hickok (many of us don't), you will also come to realize the greatness that is Josh Brolin. He was good in TYR (okay, even I will admit that...I can't help it that I don't like the whiny angsty characters...I don't really like Buck all that much either, but I do like Gregg Rainwater as an actor), but he's even better now. And hotter. I'm really hoping they are going to release the DVDs...I wonder if one can register at Suncoast Video for wedding presents? (I wonder if I would be able to wait until the end of May to get it anyway?)...my poor video tapes are soooo worn out, I don't dare watch most of them now! Hmmm...I wonder if they'd be interested in doing a special feature for the season 3 dvds about real life TYR moments...like for the Sacrifice they can do a feature on people who got proposed too in the same spot as Kid & Lou, using the same dialogue? I know *I* would be interested in that one...
