I know Johnny's not looking forward to this, but that's just because he's crazy insane got no taste at all um...just not.
I've been looking forward to this forever (ever since the day, waaaaaaaaay back years ago, when I heard Justin Timberlake was going to star in it...thank goodness that never happened!). I was a little apprehensive when I found out they actually made the movie, but the fact that most of the main cast from the original broadway production is in it makes me feel like it's going to be a good movie.
So I will be seeing it tomorrow, and I will let you know how it is since JB won't.

It's a musical starring Taye Diggs and Rosario Dawson. You have to be an eternal optimist to be excited about that. Granted, Dawson didn't look half bad in the clip they showed on Conan, but other than that ... nah.

My wife loves musicals, and because I love her, I sat through the theatrical versions of Phantom of the Opera and Chicago. She loved them.
As for me, I just can't get excited in a film where people spontaneously burst into song and dance for no good reason. It seems to be some sort of medical condition that the general public ought to be made aware of, rather than shelling out hard earned money to witness it.
I'm a guy, which means my needs are somewhat simple. I like my explosions loud, my car chases fast, and the music off-screen. The only time someone should actually be singing on-screen is if you're watching This is Spinal Tap,School of Rock, or something in a similar vein.

Oh, Johnny, Taye Diggs is actually a very good singer. He was part of the original broadway production (and if I hadn't already heard him sing on the soundtrack, I'd probably be like "Taye Diggs? In a what? No way!" too). He really is good. I don't expect people who don't like musicals to be excited about this one - I love the story and all the songs, but it really doesn't have anything to offer if you aren't a musical fan - at least the play doesn't, and I don't expect the movie to either. Being a person who is prone to spontaneously bursting into song (although, not usually when other people are around, because I just wouldn't torture them that way), that aspect of musicals doesn't bother me at all. I wish life were more like that! Now, everyone, Moo with me...
