Really looking forward to this one. Many over on IMDb are saying it's going to be a rip off of The Lady Vanishes or The Forgotton. I hope not.

It looks kind of like a combination of The Forgotten and Red Eye. The trailer shows promise. I like the whole mystery of what has happened to her son and why is everybody acting so weird about it, but I'm deathly scared of what the expected "big twist" is going to be.
I guess you can call me a jilted lover of surprise endings. I have a strong feeling this is going to be a movie where everything hinges on the payoff.

I'm just afraid that the inevitable "big twist" is going to be about as exciting as an in-flight bag of peanuts. The sad thing is, the movie probably originally had a good ending before it was actually made, as Hollywood is terrified of anything that hasn't been done before and run through fifteen thousand focus groups. So, if the ending really stinks, that's probably why.

So, if the ending really stinks, that's probably why. And then we'll have to wait for the DVD to get the "Director's Cut" and the alternative endings. Of course, those will be on the "Special Edition" DVD which will be released a few months after the first DVD that will contain such "special" features as scene selection, theatrical trailer, and subtitles. So about a year after the theatrical release we'll get to see the movie as the director originally intended. But has anybody checked out IMDb recently? To be honest, the huge Flightplan pop-up is really making me NOT want to see the movie just out of spite. It hasn't done it today, but all day yesterday whenever I went to IMDb a huge plane would slowly fly across the screen advertising Flightplan. Nearly drove me crazy.

Well, I'm curious. It's like you guys are saying, the ending is gonna make it. If it turns out she just lost her child and that's why she lost him, but when you think it's over something strange is happening and a plot is uncovered in wich her son is being obducted for some reason I'm gonna walk right outta there!

okay, I haven't seen this, but i'm going to go on record with my predictions as to how it will turn out. I think that any of these possibilities are not outside the realm of Hollywood's "safe twist" endings. (meaning they've all been done before). So, with that in mind...
...The most obvious ending is that Jodie Foster's daughter, not her husband, is in the coffin and Foster's character is imagining the whole thing.
...Of course, it could be that Foster herself is in the coffin, and M. Night Shamalayan is the pilot...
...It could be that the twist is that someone is trying to set up Foster's character as evil or crazy, and kidnapped her daughter in an attempt to discredit her. If this is the case, I wouldn't put it past Hollywood to have the ending be straight out of "Arlington Road," where Tim Robbins sets Jeff Bridges up to make it look like he's the bad guy.
...then again, there's the whole "aliens kidnapped my daughter" that could be stolen from "The Forgotten."
Anyway, I hope that whomever wrote this movie had a few more creative thoughts than these... but I doubt it.

Well, I want to see this movie and I am TRYING to keep the faith that it will be good. I actually like supernatural movies and I very much enjoyed The Forgotten. Yet I also like realistic movies and I am HOPING Flight Plan will be similar to Red Eye in that regard. Here's my take: I think that Jodie Foster is not going crazy, and I hope that her daughter was kidnapped in such a way as to make her seem crazy so family members & friends won't say much when she goes to the funny farm where the agent or agency involved in the kidnapping try to get information from her -- possibly because of her husband. Something like that. Anyway, I see this movie this Thursday night and here's hoping it's good.

All right, I'm going to chime in with my own prediction, and it's kind of in line with Laslo's first and most obvious one.
The plot tells us that "all evidence indicates that her daughter was never on board," so I'm going to go ahead and say that her daughter is indeed dead, she's a grieving mother who hasn't accepted this yet, and thus she's imagining the whole thing.
I'd love for there to actually be some sort of real mystery, but my instinct tells me this is going to be another "It's all in the character's head and what the audience sees isn't really happening" twist.

Sorry, but I'm going to have to disagree with both of you because of one of the trailers:
The little girl draws a heart in the fog on the window. After Foster is told she's nuts and her girl was never there on the plane with her, she glances at the window, fogs it with her breath, and sees the heart.......
I don't think she's going crazy...but we'll see who's right or wrong when I watch the movie Thursday.

Hasn't been released in Australia yet but I'm always up for a Jodie Foster movie. Did I spot Erica (Roundface #2) Cristensen in the trailer?
