I saw a couple clips of this movie today at Comicon as well. I'm not a fan of these types of movies, but this looks pretty good for those who are (I was only in that presentation beause the Narnia one was going to be in the same room immediately afterward).
There was a cool scene where the main character was walking through hallways and you see it from the same pov as the video game - the top of the gun at the front of the screen, and you don't see the monsters until they pop up in front of you from around the corners. It was pretty cool.
The Rock is in this too - I'm not a fan of his acting and movies, but he is the best panel/Q&A speaker I've seen at one of these events. He knows how to play the crowd, and he knows how to handle the stupid/high/idiot questioners really well.

Hmmm, another videogame movie? That makes me sceptic to start with... But is The Rock is in it it could be something. I usually like his acting. I'll go look for the trailer or videoclips or what not.

The Rock is in this too - I'm not a fan of his acting and movies, You don't like The Rock?? The Rundown and Walking Tall or both very entertaining. I heard he's really funny in Be Cool also. I've got a coupon for a 99 cent rental at Blockbuster, so I may check it out. I'm quite jealous of you. I want cool stuff like ComiCon to be in Memphis! Is there an admission fee? Do they have it at the same time every year? It sure doesn't seem like it's been a year since you were talking about the last one! I might have to consider a little trip to San Diego for the next one.

ComiCon is around the same time every year. It runs Thur. - Sun. around the end of July or beginning of August, but I believe the week tends to change. There is a fee (for Sun. it was $15...that's the cheapest day, but also the shortest), but it's worth it if you are a comic book/sci fi/movies fan.
You should plan a vacation out here for that one next year:) They always debut some new movie trailers or announce new stars, etc. (Last year they announced the title of Revenge of the Sith there. This year, we learned who does the voice of Aslan in Narnia, etc.)
I guess it could be easy to spend a ton of money if you are a comic book fan. Strangely enough, Mr. Cali didn't find anything he wanted to buy (there were some really cool SW light sabers that looked more realistic than any other ones I've seen, but they were $120 and he's not *that* big of a star wars fan. At least, not while we are saving for a wedding), while I did! I got a Disney Cinderella coffee mug for $10. That's all I spent (other than food).
From what I heard, Doom is going to be like the video game - running around killing demons, but there will be some drama in it as well. But the studio started with the creators of the video game - they took their ideas and characters, etc. and only made the changes they needed to make them fit into a different media.
And no, Johnny, I don't really like The Rock. I don't hate him, but he's never impressed me with his acting ability.
