This costumed fantasy was...different. That's the nicest way I can put it. Klaus was the easiest character to relate to for me. It's a book knowledge thing. (I know JB's got a Jimmy quote for that.)
On a distressing note, the new version of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory that's coming out actually does not thrill me. After watching the trailer, all I could do was swallow and say "oh dear."
Looks like Mr. Depp's version is exceedingly effeminate. Put it this way: he looked and acted more like a man in Pirates of the Caribbean. *oh dear*

See, I thought Johnny Depp's version of Willy Wonka looked incredibly amazing, while Tim Burton's version of the movie did not. I'm already not a fan of Tim Burton's movies (I am the cold hearted grinch who hated Nightmare Before Christmas), but I was hoping this one would be good...it just looks disappointing...that won't stop me from seeing it, however:)
I do want to see Lemony Snicket (I met Billy Connoley or whatever his name is when he came in my store a couple weeks ago, so now I have to actually see him in something!), but I don't have really high expectations for it either...I think it will be feh movie...not bad, but nothing special either:)

This won't mean anything to the yanks but when I saw the trailor for Willy Wonka I thought Depp looked like a cross between one of Ken Dodds Diddymen, which used to scare the hell out of me as a child and a young Freddie mercury! For all of you who are thinking what the heck is a Diddyman, they were puppets (ventriloquists dolls) that a very well known stand up comedian in the UK used to use. They freaked me out. I'm also very wary of re-makes but Depp is pure sex so i'll have to grit my teeth and see it when it's out! ;D What was Billy like Mscali, He is not very popular over here at the moment (to put it mildly) because of his comments about the hostage Ken Bigley who was murdered in Iraq. The British press came down on him like a tonne of bricks and Bigleys family weren't best pleased either.

I heard about that (they were talking about it in the store after he left). He was actually very nice. My boss had quite the crush on him too:) He came in with his son (I think...same last name) who was buying yarn as a gift for his sister or cousin or something. They were there for a while, and Billy just sat down at the table we have running through the middle of the store (nice big table where tons of people can gather and knit for a while) and talked to the people who were there knitting.

I'm already not a fan of Tim Burton's movies I agree. Tim Burton lives a bleak, joyless existence populated with frowning goblins and unhappy clowns and seeks to drag us all into his own private sewer of misery and woe. I've been less depressed by Cure songs...
