Okay, I'll toss in my two Abe Lincolns (that's two cents for our international friends).
How 'bout calling them "The Brolins?" I don't know if it violates some sort of copyright or slander laws, but it seems like an obvious choice to me.

I second Laslo! That's pretty much the only name you can go with, I think:)

Haha, that's good. I could use the theme "If Hollywood's not gonna give him an award then I'll name one after him!"
Plus, it's fitting since he'll be a nominee in three of my categories:
Best Supporting Actor in a Mini-Series: Into the West Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture: Into the Blue Most Appearances in a Movie with "Into the" in the Title
Any interesting suggestions for category topics aside from the typical best movie, best actor, best actress mainstays?

Best Classic Movie Remade for Today Worst Classic Movie Remade for Today (yeah, this one will have soooooooo many entries this year) Best Girl Movie that Johnny Betts Wouldn't Be Caught Dead Attending Best Girl Movie that Johnny Betts Puts Away the Man Card to Attend and Admits It Best Portrayal of John Brown by an Actor at a Live Reading (yeah, that one goes to Josh Brolin) Best James Brolin Facial Hair on an Actor (also goes to Josh, who is looking more and more like his dad these days) Best Watercooler Movie of 2005 Best Jude Law movie of 2005 (okay, I guess that one is more appropriate for last year) Best Movie Soundtrack Most Overrated Movie of 2005 (and I would just like to say that I have seen neither History of Violins, or Constant Gardner, but Mr. Cali thought the first was okay and the second was fantastic, despite the fact that one had no actual violins and the other was not really constantly gardening).
I do have to say that it's highly unfair that JB is doing these awards just as I am leaving for 2 1/2 weeks and won't have much internet access as far as I know. Booo!
Also, there needs to be a nominating committee...you know, to keep it fair and make sure movies that JB may not have liked but some of us did get a fighting chance...(although, I personally have not seen most of the big movies from this year - I have Crash, Good Night & Good Luck, The Constant Gardner, Brokeback Mountain, King Kong, and Narnia all on my list...we'll see how that goes).

Don't worry, Ms. Cali, the actual award winners won't be announced until the beginning of 2006 - probably right before the Oscars so that I can steal their thunder. This is just a kickstart, so you'll have plenty of opportunity to participate. I also like the idea of a nominating comittee. I already know a handful of people I'd like to include, but if you want to be a part of it or if you're scared you might not be one of the people I had in mind then please let me know. I'm not sure exactly how that'll work since I know a lot of you have mentioned how few movies you've seen this year, but we'll figure something out. And those are some great category suggestions! I'll have to incorporate most of those. As you said, the Jude Law category would've been appropriate for last year, but there has to have been somebody who was in every other movie this year.

How about Most Disappointing Film; Best and Worst Casting (nominees can be both singles or whole ie Christian Bale as Batman or the entire cast of Narnia); Best Surprise (a better name should be found for this but basically something that you thought would suck but turned out to be far better (nominees again whole films or single events)). As for calling them The Brolins - JB, you are SUCH a fanboy! Worship much?

I think you ought to have categories that the Academy and the Globes won't consider:
Best stunt performance or coordination (there have been lobbies for years for this one) Best CGI acting (or, as I like to call it, The Andy Serkis Award) Best voice-over work in an animated film
On the funnier side of things: Best film where Johnny Betts DOESN'T have to cash in his guy card. Best film in an otherwise bad series that is so good it makes you forget that the other films were even made. (Batman Begins only) Best film to rent and give a personal MST3K treatment to. Best (or should that be worst?) Sci-Fi channel original movie.
And perhaps: The C. Thomas Howell Lifetime Achievement Award.

As for calling them The Brolins - JB, you are SUCH a fanboy! Worship much? Oh come on, it wasn't *my* idea! You can't blame me for this one! Although adding "Golden" to the front and calling them the "Golden Brolins" is my contribution. Stephanie's already been commissioned to create a statue. I'm liking the category suggestions. Y'all feel free to suggest nominees also. In addition to the Best (or Worst) Sci Fi Original I'll add Best Movie Mark Original. Gotta pat myself on the back a little. Laslo - should the C. Thomas Howell award read "Achievement" or "Lack of Achievement"?

Oh, another possible category is the Johnny Betts Friend Who Shows the LEAST Support for the Movie Mark.
That might not be much of a contest though. I'm afraid Mr. Shade has that one locked up. I don't know how many times I've mentioned something I wrote or started talking about one of my reviews and the only response I get from Shade is a blank stare and a few mumbles about how he just hadn't gotten around to reading that particular item yet.

There needs to be a special place int he awards for Michael Pare. Without him, what would there be to mock?
