Mr. Cali and I are reading a book called "The Arcanum" right now, and it definitely should be made into a movie! The premise is that real historical figures) Arthur Conan Doyle, Harry Houdini, and HP Lovecraft among a couple others) are involved in a secret society (The Arcanum) that investigates things of the occult variety. In this story, they are trying to stop a madman from destroying the world. The writing is just so descriptive and exciting, this really must become a movie one day.
Another book I would love to see made (um...remade, sort of) into a movie is The Club Dumas. It was made into a movie starring Johnny Depp (The Ninth Gate), but they only used about half the plot for that, and it sucked. And as much as I love Johnny Depp, he was the wrong person to play the title character (much like Tom Hanks starring in The Davinci Code - which was a great plot but a terrible book - I don't think Dan Brown is a talented enough writer to approach that subject line).
Other books that are being made into movies that I am excited about:
The Davinci Code (depsite my statements above, Ron Howard is directing, and I hold out faith that he can save it)
The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy - if you haven't read this series, I highly recommend it! It's funny and entertaining, and easy to read. They showed a "preview" (you know, the kind that says, "We want you to know we're making this movie, but we don't have any actual footage yet") when I went to see National Treasure...I am probably more excited about this movie than anything else that I know is currently in production (including Pirates of the Carribean 2).
So, what about everyone else?
