OMG. this exact same thing happened to me during Vanity Fair this past weekend. They guy answered and proceeded to talk. WTF???
But none of this is as bad as when I was in Dachau, Germany a few years ago. DACHAU people. As in the concentration camp. They have a little theater there, where you can watch a little movie about the history of Dachau, and all the atrocities that occured there and stuff. Not exactly an action-adventure flick where a little noise like a cell phone would be ignored.
So the phone rang, totally killing the somber attitude, and in the packed theater, somebody answered it!! They were speaking in another language, so I'm not sure if they said "Yes mother, I finally got to see where daddy was killed before my terminal cancer took over my body, I shall go outside and die now," or "Yeah, I'll be over for a couple of beers just as soon as I leave this dump." but I'm guessing it was the latter conversation. Have some consideration folks!!!

This just happened to me too, either at Princess Diaries or Vanity Fair. I can't recall. Where the phone rang and rang and rang then you could tell they were digging it out. I thought they would hit a button to stop it, but they answered. Same deal. "I'm at a movie. No, I'm sitting the theater. I have to call you back." Well, if you weren't going to talk to them, why did you answer the phone?!?

Some of the theaters out here have really histerical "Turn your cell phones off, idiots" mini-movies. My favorite one shows two Native Americans talking quietly about their people are starving, and this buffalo hunt is their one opportunity to save them...as the camera pans out you see they are on a hill overlooking a valley full of buffalo. They will be successful after all! (oh, and at first, this totally looks like a promo for a new movie, so, being the western fan I am, I was disappointed that it was not).
All of a sudden, you hear a cell phone ring...they look at each other, then say "Its coming from the audience" and turn to look at the cameras...of course, the buffalo stampede, and their hunt fails. Their people are doomed.
Your cell phones can cause this people!!! Keep them off, or a whole group of people may perish!
Of course, there was the time my boyfriend forgot to turn his phone off during a film - I called him and he just hung up on me.
