Ooooohhhh...I'm a moderator! Power! *evilly rubs fingers together and says in best Mr. Burns voice "Excellent!"*
So, anyone who reads The Movie Mark will know I'm a big Alfred Hitchcock fan - but my all time favorite movie is The Wizard of Oz. I'm very sad right now, because I waited too long and now all the cheap tickets for the Wizard of Oz Sing-a-long are sold out, and I don't want to pay $15 each for movie tickets, even if you CAN sing along without anyone getting mad at you. People probably don't want to hear me sing anyway!
So, instead, Saturday night perhaps I shall stay home, watch The Wizard of Oz, sing along to it, and write a review about that. I shall give my singing high marks of course (SOMEBODY has to appreciate it, and since no sane person will, I can appreciate it myself).
Or maybe not.

So what's your definition of a classic movie, oh worthy moderator lady?

Hmmm...for me, there are two kinds of classic movies. 1) The type of movies you see on Turner Classic Movies (but not American Movie Classics, because seriously, they showed Over the Top once! Yikes!). Movies that were made "back in the day" that have survived the test of time:) 2) Movies that are modern classics - whether they are cult favorites, or huge blockbusters, or you just KNOW they'll survive the test of time. Yeah, it's pretty subjective.

So would you count Spaceballs as a classic?

You know, I have never seen Spaceballs all the way through! But yes, I would probably count it as a modern classic. Then again, I count Zoolander, so what do I know?

I need to rent that one again sometime. A friend of mine was talking about International Velvet the other day. I corrected her, and she assured me that she knew what she was talking about... evidently its a sequel to National Velvet.

I haven't seen either one, and to be honest, I'm not breaking any legs to clear the room on my schedule to do so ;D

I own National Velvet and will be reviewing it eventually...LOVE that movie:)
I read International Velvet growing up - I probably still have it in a box at my mom's somewhere...I didn't know it was a movie though! The book was good, so I'd be interested in seeing it:)

Yes, "National Velvet" is with Elizabeth Taylor riding a horse. I bough this movie about a year ago, and have watched it once since then... I'm not sure if I liked it so much because of the movie itself, or because of the circumstances surrounding my first viewing. I was traveling through England and was stuck at my B&B in Penzance on a rainy day and caught the most of the movie on TV. It took mea long time to remember to look it up and see what it was that I had watched that day, and then I found it cheap somewhere and bought it...
