I signed up for the Blockbuster game pass for September and played 6 games on it. Here's my take on them:
Bounty Hunter: Redemption
This apparently came out as a budget title ($20) and it showed. The plot seemed interesting and some of the gameplay was good, but the graphics were mediocre at best and there were serious issues with the auto-aim. Quite often you would hit the auto-lock on and your character would aim directly into a wall. If there was nothing else I was interested in I might play through this one, but there's too many good games right now to spend time on this one.
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory
Wow, they pretty much took my wish list with SC and made it happen. Save Anywhere? Check. No stupid alarms ending the level? Check. Better level design? Check. More interesting story? Check. This is definitely a must play title and will go in my top 10 if not my top 5 list.
Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction
This is a free-roaming Hulk game similar to Spiderman 2 from last year. This game in much more interesting and has a much better fighting system, but some of the levels get ridiculously hard. I'm half-way through the game and eventually I plan on finishing it.
Darkwatch
This is a very short game - 7 hours total for me. Pretty fun arcadish style shoot-em up. The story is pretty weak but gameplay is solid. Good for a rental.
Jade Empire
Plays better than the demo. Great story so far with nice looking cutscenes and good graphics. The combat isn't too deep but is fun. Don't go into this game expecting an RPG - the dialog, look and loading times are similar to KOTOR but that's pretty much it. At $20 it's a great deal now.
Mercenaries
Didn't get to play much of this one, but it seemed fun with more of a story than I expected. Not a great story, but there is definitely a story to tie together the missions.
