Just finished RE4 this weekend. Great game that probably ends up at #4 on my top games list. Here are my pros and cons of the game. Pros- Great graphics. Not quite as good as Splinter Cell, but there's a lot more going on than in Splinter Cell.
- Really good atmosphere and level design. I started playing the game again after beating it and you get to keep all of your upgraded weapons. The village was still pretty scary.
- Variety of weapons. Good variety of weapons that all work pretty well. The ability to upgrade your weapons was very cool. The rocket launcher makes the boss fights so much easier.
- Length. 22 hours throught first time. And it's good enough to replay.
Cons- Story. It's got a pretty good outline of a story, but they don't fill in the details. The beginning of the game makes you think you're going to get a Silent Hill level of detail with the story, but it quickly fades to get key go there get new area to go to.
- Lack of puzzles. I'm glad they pulled out the stupid puzzles from the earlier games in the series, but there's only 3-4 puzzles in this game.
- Chapter 5. The last chapter of the game on the island began to get a little tedious and repetitous.
Overall I'd give it 9.5 out of 10. Add in the puzzles and fill in the details of the story and this game is a 10/10.
