Tough question. Off the top of my head I'd say...
1) Metal Gear Solid (Playstation) - This was the first game I ever played on the PS1 after upgrading from my old Nintendo, and I was blown away. It still holds up today.
2) Silent Hill 2: Restless Dreams (XBox) - This is still the creepiest game I've ever played, plus, it had a good story to go with it.
3) Beyond Good and Evil (Xbox) - This is a surprise entrant. Great gameplay and a very involving story makes this one of the more fun Xbox games I've played.
4) Silent Hill 4: The Room (Xbox) - It' not as scary as some of the other Silent Hill games, but it has one of the most engaging stories of any game on the Xbox.
5) Max Payne (Xbox) - This won't be on the list for long, but this is the kind of gameplay I want in an action/adventure game.
Games that I'll be playing soon that'll probably edge out a couple on this list:
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic (Xbox) Resident Evil 4 (Gameboy)
And I don't have a PS2, but one day I'll play Metal Gear Solid 3, and I expect it to make the list.

1) Deus Ex (PC) Great story and awesome interaction with the environment. It also had some nice RPG elements and was long (~40 hours)
2) Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn (and expansion pack) (PC) Good story, tons of side quests and great party based combat. Plus 150 hours of gameplay.
3) Thief: Deadly Shadows (XBox) Good story, good atmosphere and the best stealth gameplay. Decent length (~20 hours).
4) Hitman 2: Silent Assasin (XBox) Cool story and interesting gameplay. Use disguises to get to your target or go in guns ablazing with the .45 ballers. Killing people with the fibre wire is too cool. I believe this one was around 15 hours.
5) Silent Hill 2: Restless Dreams (XBox) Very scary and disturbing. Great story with really good twists. Silent Hill 3 was slightly scarier but the story wasn't that great and the ending was a real letdown. Silent Hill 4 had a slightly better story but wasn't nearly as scary. About 20 hours.
I'll have to give honorable mentions for:
Halo/Halo 2 (Xbox) - Mainly for multiplayer.
Planescape Torment (PC) - Greatest story ever in a video game.
Knights of the Old Republic (XBox) - Great story and pretty good gameplay. Very long for an XBox game (40 - 60 hours) but about average for an RPG.
Resident Evil 4 (Gamecube) - This will probably be in my top 5 when I finish it. I'm about 6 hours in and it is great.
Might and Magic (Sega Genesis) - This was a great RPG for its time. Dragons, time travel, teleportation, a great story and an 8 player party - most RPG's today don't have all that.
Beyond Good and Evil (XBox) - Nice story and good blend of action, RPG and stealth gameplay. Decent length (15-20 hours).

I got a new list so here it goes....
1) Resident Evil 4 (GC) - It has just about everything you hope for in a game. Great graphics, story, and great replay value.
2) Halo 2 (Xbox) - The multi-player is fun if you have several people playing. Graphics are great and the story was good until the end.
3) Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (PS2) - The graphics and story are great. It also has some replay value.
4) Final Fantasy 7 (PS) - The first game I played that had great graphics. The story was good, but I hated the ending.
5) The NCAA Football series (Xbox) - It's just so addicting. Good graphics and commentary.

Hey Lisa, what more can you tell me about the Syberia games? I like adventure games, but I wasn't a big fan of Broken Sword 2 on the Playstation.
But I am interested in picking up Syberia for the Xbox. Does it consist of a lot of puzzle solving? How's the story?

My top 5 games
1. Trivial Pursuit 2. Yahtzee 3. Taboo 4. Scategories 5. Othello
Oh, wait, you mean video games, huh?
1. Super Mario Brothers - the ultimate original Nintendo game. Fight the dragon, rescue the princess. Mario World or whatever came after that has nothing on it.
2. Duck Hunt - if you get right up to the screen with the gun, you never miss. I had the high score on that game thanks to my little secret.
I literally haven't played video games since my brother had the original nintendo system when I was about 10.

Ms. Cali, if you hook up the power pad, then use your hands instead of feet, you could get some awesomely fast running times... We hooked up a power pad in my living room a year ago and had a blast.
Other than that, my game list is about the same as yours (though I played Scene It at the beach last week, and it was a lot of fun, especiall for movie buffs)

It,s been a while since I played it, but Syberia 1 and 2 were fantastic. It's a really nice story, quite a lot of puzzles and looks beautiful. The automatons as well as the backgrounds and music are stunning. I loved it.

Hmmm, mostly oldies for me: 1. Total Annihilation (strategy) 2. Quake 3. Forza Motorsport (Xbox) 4. Warcraft 2 5. Rollercoaster Tycoon (Highly addictive!) I'm more a strategy game person. Warcraft for instance cost me an education... Nowadays I'm very carefull wivh games I start, for I might have problems staying away from them once I've started.

Hmmmm... Top five? I don't know if I have a top five. ~thinks~
Number one is definitely Final Fantasy IX (PS). That will always be my favorite game ever. I love it. And... I still have yet to beat it. Man, I'm at the very end, and the bosses are freakin' evil. x.x Second is Harvest Moon: Back to Nature (PS). I'm a huge fan of the Harvest Moon series. Third would be Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus (PS). Like I said in the other thread, I can play this one over and over and never get tired of it. Fourth would be Silent Hill (PS). Who doesn't love Silent Hill? And fifth would be Harvest Moon: Magical Melody (GC).
Haha, I did have a top five! LOL

Fourth would be Silent Hill (PS). Who doesn't love Silent Hill? Wow, a girl around here who has played video games that were made within the last 10 years? Amazing! Have you played any of the other games in the Silent Hill series? As far as a combination of story and scares goes, I think Silent Hill 2 is my favorite. This is the one video game series that has actually made me walk a little more cautiously around the house at night. I enjoyed the Silent Hill movie, but I think the 2nd and 4th one would make better installments because of their storylines. Hopefully the sequel(s) will head in that direction. Did you see the movie? If so then what were your thoughts?

Yeah, I've been playing games since the Atari. My brother has always been a big gamer. Got me into them at a very young age and I've been into them ever since. Although I don't play them as much as I used to. But there's not much out that really hooks me anymore.
Yep, I've played all of them except the fourth one. I have that one a demo, but that's as far as it goes. I own both the first and the third one. And I plan on buying the other two eventually. It took me a while to track down a copy of the first one for cheap. Some of the prices are outrages for it. Especially right after the movie.
But I've beaten both the first and second, although it's been a long while since I played the second, so I don't remember much about it. And when I beat the first, I got the crappy ending. -.- And as for the third, I'm at the very end of it and I'm extremely low on ammo, so I'm stuck on the last boss. This tends to happen to me a lot... But the first one is my favorite, followed by the third.
Yeah, I know what you mean. It's amazing that I can play the first Silent Hill now, and even with the graphics as crappy as they are, the game still always manages to startle me, even if I know what's coming! It has to be the scariest game I've ever played.
Yeah, I watched the movie... but I watched it at our local drive-in, and dark films and the drive-in don't mix. Needless to say, I couldn't even see half of it. It really sucked. But it's going to be coming on Starz soon, I think, so I'll be watching it again then.
Despite the fact that I couldn't see most of the monsters, I did enjoy the movie. It wasn't nearly as scary as the games, but you know, the movie lacks the whole first person perspective. It's no longer you that's getting chased, so it's not nearly as freaky. I think they did a good job, though. It has to be one of the best video game movies out right now.
