System of a Down meets Pink Floyd meets The Doors meets Radiohead...
If that doesn't say it all. It's a roller coaster ride of music going from melodramatic singing (great voice !!) to fast changing rhythms and heavy guitars, switching to experimental sampler effects and ambient in-betweens.
It's no music for people who like their music simple, that's a fact. You have to be open-minded and be able to let yourself go with the music..
Rock at its best, if you ask me.
The group formed from member of the group "At the drive-in", and are now releasing their 3th album.
Be sure to check it out ...

As additional remark, I saw the Belgian group "The Sedan Vault" at a festival this summer, which greatly resembled the progressive rock of 'The Mars Volta', but still kept their own unique sound or feeling of the music ...
New group and just releasing their first album (which i still have to get and hear for myself).
If you like The Mars Volta, you'll probably like this aswell...

I think Jared Leto is in 30 seconds to Mars (or is it minutes) Who doesn't love Jordan Catalano (sp?)... Plus, he was so amazing in Requiem for a Dream. Maybe I should watch that movie again. I own it, but it was a bit disturbing and some of the scenes were so hard for me to watch that I have never opened it and watched it since the year it came out. Some movies are like that.... you need a few years break before you can see it again. I haven't seen Jared Leto in anything recently... I'll have to keep an I out. I like that song: the Kill. Anyhoo.... back to the Mars Volta... I'll have to search them out and take a listen. Sounds interesting. Good Lookin' Out
