I've gotta offer up Memento (starring Guy Pearce) as a "must see" for anybody who likes original movies with great plots. This one just came out of nowhere and exceeded my expectations when I saw it. Has everybody here seen it?
The director, Christopher Nolan, is currently directing the upcoming Batman Begins.

It has the most original plot I've seen within the last four years. Any suggestions on something that competes with it?

Competes with it as in plot originality?
Identity, The Butterfly Effect, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind would be the three I could think of recently. Oh, and the original Matrix.
I'd say Memento still wins hands down.

The Butterfly Affect had an original plot, there's no doubt about that, but it didn't satisfy the way Memento did.

It's been four years, and I still don't think there's been a movie as intellectually satisfying as Memento yet. It's pretty much what I compare all thrillers against.

Plus it had Guy Pearce:)
That's always a plus for me (yes, I even rushed out to see The Time Machine and Count of Monte Cristo...and WOULD have seen Two Brothers had I had the chance).
But I have to agree - Memento had the most original plot I've seen in a movie, and it was carried out brilliantly too!

::)Quite agree, very good movie. Nearly as good as SOTD. Heres my rather pathetic claim to fame. I used to work with Guys cousin Sam at Seaton Carew social club a few years ago. He was the year below me at school.

This is one of the few films I've seen that will hold up with multiple viewings. I've never seen a film like this, and I doubt I'll see one like it for a while.
