Santa Claus Conquers the Martians-- "John Smith IS Santa Claus in.. O Little Town of DEATHlehem!!!" That's too funny. I wish I had come up with that first. Good stuff. Definitely check out the Space Mutiny episode if you haven't seen it yet.

Space Mutiny features the curly-headed meat puppet that is Reb Brown. For those of you who don't know, he was also in the Gene Hackman return-to-Vietnam-and-save-the-POW's film "Uncommon Valor"
Not that that means much, but hey...

i am proud to say that by pure chance i happened to have the comedy channel (or whatever the heck it was called that month) when they aired their first MST3K. the show was fresh off the minneapolis farm and wonderful. the first 3 years were the best, before their budget crept above 4 figures for each show. i've got several of the rhino releases - with 750 cable channels now, there has to be a place to show ALL the episodes again.

The problem with showing the episodes is that they have to renew the rights on the original films. This apparently makes the show much more expensive than other re-runs. You can get all of the non-Rhino films here: www.mst3ktapes.com/Oh yeah - go Tigers!

My favorites are Zombie Nightmare (they never stop ripping on Adam West) ;D and Parts: The Clonus Horror (this is the one that The Island reportedly ripped off...). The worst leading man ever... Oh, and any shorts, especially the aforementioned "educational" ones.
Ah, I miss it - you'd think that Spike or FX would pick it up...

NBJ, the fact that you loved Zombie Nightmare ("I'M Batman! I'M Batman!!) just cements you further in the cool hall of fame.

I love bad movies! Mystery Science Theater 3000 is the best show ever. I have all the Rhino releases. I get my non-commercial dvds here: www.mst3kvideos.comBest quality around.

Since I haven't seen it mentioned here, I'd just like to toss a shout out to Rifftrax (Rifftrax.com), which is basically Mike, and often Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett(the guys that played the bots) riffing on newer, popular movies. You just download an MP3 file and play it with the movie.
To anyone who checks it out, I highly recommend Daredevil. Somehow it just feels 'right' to have the MST3K crew mocking Ben Affleck, like it was meant to be.

I'm really tempted to download that one. Mr. Shade and I were thinking about doing something similar for the Movie Mark - watch a really bad movie (i.e. a Sci-Fi Original), record all our witty and insightful comments, and then see if anybody cared to listen.

Hey MovieMarkPaul - how did you play the MP3 along side the movie? I have a PC in my living room so I know I can play the DVD and sync an MP3 on there, but for people who just have a DVD player how does that work?

I also have a computer close to my TV, so I usually just play it that way, but if I have friends over, I'll load the track onto my old, decrepit MP3 player (pre-Ipod!) and plug it into my stereo system.
So, I guess a prerequisite for Rifftrax is either an MP3 player or a computer close to your TV.

as a btw, rifftrax now has a player that you can down load that will automatically sync up the rifftrax file you have downloaded with your dvd.
just pop the dvd in your machine, start up the rifftrax player, select the appropriate file and off you go.
takes all the pain out of the process
