I've seen the movie about the Indianapolis, and my gripe about it was not so much the cheesy sharks, but the fact that what really happened to the survivors of that disaster was SO much worse than what was portrayed. Fact is, shark attack only accounted for about 30 percent of the total deaths. But, this is not the place to relive history. It is a place to make fun of really bad shark movies, and so your suggestion is duly noted I'm just waiting for "Meg," a supposedly large budget shark movie about a giant shark that supposedly will come out next year.

Parasite. You have been warned.
Starring A bunch of Europeans and Canadians you've never heard of.
The Plot: Something about environmental activists who take over an alomst completley abandonded off shore oil rig. They take a cleaning crew hostage, only to discover that there are mutated, flesh-eating worms loose on board. Does it really matter what the story is, though? Take every cliche from every monster movie you've ever seen, and it's here.
I rented this, thinking it might be good for a laugh night, but it turned out to just be stupid. The production budget for this film must've been about a hundred bucks, and that was probably for the rental on the digital video camera. The CGI is painfully laughable, and the snake/worm/monster things were obviously modeled after a guy's hand in a sock. There's a lot of jerky camera footage, apparently intended to heighten the tension, but let's face it: this film has all the tension of the waistband on Roseanne's underpants after a week of constant wear.
Don't even bother with this. It doesn't even have the decency to have a C. Thomas Howell or Michael Pare for mocking. Just stay away. Trust me.

[glow=red,2,300]WHAT!! ARE YOU INSANE!!![/glow] Sorry... I stopped by to read Laslo's latest review/warning of what bad movie to avoid. No, I'm NOT suggesting he is wrong in his assessment of this parasitic pile of steaming poo. * I however haven't seen it for myself so I will not judge it except to say that I'm convinced and consider myself warned. When I clicked on this topic though, I was shocked to see that the first movie mentioned as being complete and utter crap was none other than the 1980 (Sam Jone's) version of Flash Gordon. Maybe you had to see this movie as a child and grown up with it to appreciate it. To this day, it remains one of my all time favorite movies. I love the camp and cheesiness of it to this day. I even quote lines from it now and again. I now own it on dvd, with much effort. Can't get it on dvd in the US w/out paying an INSANELY HUGE amt. of money for it. *(And while I DO love it, let's not pretend that I'd pay over $100 for it! Not on my income anyway. smile.) I could go on a real RANT here defending it... but as brevity is NOT my strong point... I'll breathe deeply and just say that I know I'm Not alone in loving this movie. I delight in the camp, the cheesy goodness, and some extremely bad acting by some of the actors. (There are some big names in this movie as well however... which makes it all the more delicious!) Anyway... I will say no more except that I feel very strongly on this matter that it is NOT a steaming pile. (I feel as vehemently about this as Nikkibluejeans feels that Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid is a comedy). Agree or Not... so be it, but respect the passion! I'm just saying that some movies are so bad that they are deliciously good. Some movies you loved as a kid, you roll your eyes at as an adult. In this instance, this is NOT one of them. For me, at least, Flash Gordon pleases me to this day!!!

Wait, didn't they originally call that movie Squirm? Ahhh...my favorite MST3K movie! TG, Mr. C says that Flash Gordon (with the soundtrack by Queen - according to Mr. C, the official title is "Flash Gordon with the Soundtrack by Queen", and you have to say it that way;) is definitely one of the worst movies ever made... ...and he loves it because it is so bad. So no, you are not alone in your love of that movie.

Parasite. You have been warned. Thanks for the warning. Blockbuster had it for sale for $4 this weekend, and it's normally one I would've considered buying as a joke, but you helped prevent that. Komodo Vs. Cobra also recently used the ol' environmental activists theme recently, but at least that movie had Michael Pare's usual cash-checkin' performance to keep us all entertained.

If you want another one that sucks, here's one from Australia. a documentary entitled "Cane Toads". Is it about toads? Yes. Does it have some of the oddest people EVER? Yes. Do the toads make a popping sound when you run them over? According to the video they do. lol.

Last night, I rented this movie called "Monster Night." It's some crap about students who fail math being taken by monsters. It had Robert "I was in desperate need of a paycheck" Carridine in it. The only thing I could think while watching it was "Whatever the filmmakers were on, I want 2 of them!"

Laslo wrote in regards to the U.S.S. Indianapolis:
Yeah... weren't most of the deaths (or a large percentage of them) due to men drinking the salt water and then either killing one another or themselves. (Caused people to hallucinate/not think clearly, etc...)
I'm pretty sure I saw a documentary or something about this.
As for shark movies... there are an awful lot of bad ones, huh?
I want to see Sharks on a Plane.
Okay... maybe not.
