Apparently some people think I do. You see, I've went to this theater many times. I'm a huge movie goer. And never once have they ever asked me for my ID. So I didn't think I needed it, when I went to the movies with my 16 year old niece and her boyfriend. Well, I was wrong. I go up to get the tickets for all of us, and this guy, who I have bought tickets from before asks me for my ID. Of course, I don't have it. It was in the car, which my Mom took across the highway to the mall because I came into town with her. So I tell him that, and I tell him I'm 22 and I've never been asked for it before. He basically tells me he doesn't care and he needs to see it. He talks to me in this tone where you can just tell he thinks I'm lying. He was totally rude to me and treating me as if I was some lying teenager trying to con my way into a movie, when I'm plenty old enough to see a rated R movie AND he's sold me tickets before. I guess he was blind today or something. I guess he couldn't remember all the million other times I've went there and never been carded. And so I had to let my 16 year old niece find someone to buy us tickets, which was slightly embarrassing because it pretty much made me look like a little 16 year old myself, which I haven't been for SIX YEARS!! Ugh...
It really wouldn't have been so bad if I didn't go to that place all the time, and they were unfamiliar with me. But the fact that I go there a lot, it's a small theater, and he's sold me tickets before without asking me, really irked me. And of course, the one time I don't bring in my ID, I get asked for it. Yeah, totally ruined my movie experience. And to make it even worse, I didn't even like the movie I went to see (Hitman). -sighs-

Yeah... I know the person is just doing his job, but that is truly frustrating. I've had similar situations and luckily for me, I *did* have my I.D. on me each time. I know it's awful, but I often don't have my driver's license on me. Now that I've outgrown the club scene, I do usually have it on me. Who wants to keep track of a purse in a club??? So... for me... I had a mean ticket lady who was trying to charge my friend and I adult ticket prices when we were still considered "children". She said there was no way we were 12 or under. Luckily for us, we both had military I.D.'s so we could actually prove that we were 11. Then she got snotty with us and didn't want to sell us the tickets because the movie was PG-13. We had been dropped off so we were basically stuck there. I explained to her that it was Parental Guidance suggested and NOT the same thing as being restricted and told her to get the manager. We did eventually get in, but it was such an ordeal and ended up missing the previews. I hate missing the previews. Next... I got asked for I.D. to see American Pie 2 (sometimes I wish I hadn't had my I.D. on me for that one, could have saved some money.)--- That movie came out in what??? 2001 or 2002?? Okay, so I turned 17 in 1990. Next... I got asked for I.D. when I tried to buy Warriors dvd from Walmart. I was well over 17 at the time. I think I was 30. It was probably because you were with younger people. Look at it in the positive. When you're 30-something or 40-something, you'll be glad that you look younger than you are. *** Oh... and I'm trying to convince my dad that Hitman is going to be awful. I'll let him know.

It was extremely frustrating. I get frustrated just thinking about it. I mean, it's one thing if I was lying. But it really irked that I was telling the truth, and he was acting as if I wasn't. But yeah, I do think it was probably because I was buying tickets for them, but it's completely stupid that he never asked before. Only when I'm with my sixteen year old niece does he think he has to ask me for my ID. Feh. Oh, and well I just remembered, actually, I went to see Land of the Dead with her, which was way more gory than Hitman could ever be and they didn't even ask me then! Man, I just had horrible luck today, I guess.
And those times sound just as frustrating, so I feel your pain. It makes it even worse when they're rude like that. And I usually don't get carded. I think I can count the times I have been. Probably like say three times, and one of those times, I actually was 16. So yeah, I'm not really used to it, and I don't like being treated as if I'm some little kid trying to sneak into the movies. My movie sneaking in days have been gone for a long time! And yeah, I guess if I wanna look on the bright side, it is good I don't look old. LOL
Yeah, Hitman wasn't really that great. Maybe if I had played the games. I dunno. I was sort of distracted because of what happened, but I really had no desire to see it in the first place. I just went because my niece wanted me to meet her boyfriend, so I was being the nice aunt and went with them. Which he was perfectly fine, but my time at the movies, wasn't.

I hate getting carded. It's so embarassing. I'm only 19, but I absolutely hate the picture on my ID. I grow my hair out in the fall and winter, when I go to the movies more, and the picture was taken in the summer, and I look stupid with short hair. So, with me, It's basically vanity.

It was completely because you were with your 16 yrs old niece. When I worked box office I had several tricks up my sleeve to help get lines down. We were technically supposed to card anyone who looked 25 or younger, but that takes forever and lines just get huge. So if someone was asking for one ticket and they looked over 17 I'd just sell them the ticket. But if someone wanted more than one ticket I'd have to card them if they didn't look about 25. Why? Because in order to buy more than one ticket you have to be 21. There are SO many 17 to 18 year olds thinking they can get their 16 year old friends in and they try it. And go with TG on this, take it as a compliment. I'm 28 and I got carded when I was accidently buying an M rated game for my brother -- I was glad he carded me because that helped me realize my mistake. I changed the game to a T rated game. Anyway, I'm flattered that I don't look over 25 apparently.

I am 30 I still get carded at the movies! I think it's cool because I am 30. Trust me when you are my age you love it. I did hate it when seeing Halloween I was carded but, people behind me who are 16 and 17 are not carded because the guy working there was their friend. I stood there listening. I told the manager and he shook he's head. Dumba$$.

Getting carded at a movie is ridiculous. Even if you are 16. But just feel good now cause 30 years from now you'll never be carded again.
