When Lord of the Rings: Return of the King opened in December, we made plans to see the movie with a group of friends. We all were big geeks and ordered our tickets online about a week ahead of time, got to the theater early so we could get a decent place in line, and found out that we weren't all in the same theater!
It seems the theater was selling two sets of tickets for the same showtime, without actually telling anyone. This meant that we couldn't all go pick up our tickets together to ensure we'd all have the same theater assignment. And the theater wouldn't let us trade in our tickets for the other theater.
My boyfriend and I ended up in one theater, and the rest of our friends in the other. Only, not. You see, their theater was oversold, and they ended up in our theater anyway - but by that time, the previews had already started and they couldn't find us!
The moral here: When The Lord of the Rings Trilogy Two: Electric Boogaloo is released, avoid opening night (or buy tickets at a theater where they have assigned seating).

Ms Cali, my friends and I ordered our tickets a week early AND dressed up. You're not a geek by true geek standards.

Actually, I'm not a geek at all...i just get dragged along with them (I hated the first LOTR...only decided that I would go to the second one at the last minute as they were buying tickets, and liked it enough to see the last one:). There were actually less people dressed up than I expected for the last one though:)
Now, if they did a Young Riders movie, I'd dress up for that premier:)
Heh.

Me and some friends and I figured it would be awesome to wear medeval armour to the showing. so we camped in a van in the parking lot and when show time came they wouldnt let us in. Apparently the theatre had some policy about battle axes. And then there is the incident at Star Wars ep. 1.....

I learned the hard way that they don't find homemade light sabers (complete with electric shocks) to be all that funny.
