Waaaaaaaaaaaaay off topic here (thus, the General board, right?), but I have to say YAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY!
My company moved about two weeks ago, and I took over the job of receptionist on top of my regular duties. So, I have this really nice, custom ordered desk that has been causing me all sorts of problems!
1. They built it wrong...either somebody forgot to let the furniture makers know the layout of the reception area had changed or they just messed it up. So I was sitting with my back to the visitors, which meant they could see all the "sensitive" information on my computer (heh...this site).
2. They took ALL DAY to install the new desk once they built it, while I still had to answer the phones and stuff...my phone was on the floor, but thankfully I have a nice headset and remote device to answer the phone. Still, the carpenters were noisy and bothersome.
3. They had to install lighting over the desk...the electricians were here when I came in at 9 and didn't leave until about 1. Grrrrrr...
4. They installed the new desk in the wrong place (it had to be center from where you see it in the elevator lobby because our president is a perfectionistic micro-manager), so they had to come and move it back 9 inches and out from the wall 3 inches (because the moron architect had put outlets right where the desk would go). Then they had to drill a hole in the corner brace, because the moron architect had installed a floor outlet for my computer and phone lines right where that was. They just came and got the desk moved and the hole drilled, and thankfully these guys were efficient and got it done in less than 30 minutes! Yay!!!
I'm so happy to finally be settled...and hopefully they'll get the artwork and signs up soon (and the last few pieces of furniture) and my little reception area will be all done!
