I admit I don't drop by as much as I used to but when I do it seems quiet (If you think about it fora second it might make sense), well not as crowded as it used to be.
Anyone have any ideas as to why this is?

The forum's activity comes in waves .. sometimes nothing, sometimes everything together .. combine that with summer and you've got one inactive forum .. But i still visit daily, hoping for new threads and posts so Thank You (ps: and i don't start new threads myself, because then i would seem like a postwhore )

Also, the total number of people who actually post here is relatively small; the "regulars" even more so.
I sorta like to think of the Movie Mark crowd as being like the Marines: The Few, The Proud. Only without the rigorous boot camps and mandatory crew cuts.
That being said, the initial hazing was quite rough. How I survived that first night soap-bar-in-pillow-case beating from everyone else, I'll never know.

Also, the intelligence level of the board regulars is probably intimidating to most lurkers.
If you've perused the IMDb message boards then you've likely lost a few brain cells in the process. It's akin to sitting in on a script reading for Hannah Montana.
TMM message board proudly boasts that our contributors are smarter, and let's face it - more socially adept, than those who post on the average movie message board.
That can be quite a shock to the system of those who have grown accustomed to people figuring out new ways to call each other a poopy head.
Now ladies, I need to point out that you will not be subjected to the soap-bar-in-pillow-case beating initiation. That's only for the toughest of guys who we trust can survive it.
I would make a joke about how instead the gals just have to go through a one-man gauntlet spanking, but I don't want to be accused of being a chauvinist.

Trantee writes:Hmm... ... what exactly are you saying? just kidding.... everyone knows I'm only post-promiscuous and NOT a post whore. In fact, only 6 of the 20 last posts are mine... which, if my calculations are correct, makes me only about 30% $lutty. ahem, ahem.... besides.... I think that someone who should remain nameless (Cough, Tran, cough, tee, cough...) HAS in fact started a thread or two in his day. smile. You are quite right though... it does come in waves. It is summer, there haven't been a whole lot of fabulous movies out as of late { insert a plug for Stardust: out on Aug. 10th, here} *** Hey, at least I'm not affiliated w/ the movie in any way and as I, myself, have pointed out my w/ my 30% post-promiscuous rating--- not to mention my "Ultimate"status (insert me ripping open my shirt to reveal a giant Letter [glow=red,2,300]U[/glow] on my chest. Oh... Tangent (try not to look shocked): Has anyone seen the previews for the upcoming "Underdog" movie... SOOOO Lame. I know penguins are en vogue now, but I swear if "they" make a Chilly Willy movie and tarnish another of my childhood heroes, well I'm gonna have to borrow the "soap-bar-in-pillow case" for some "initiating of my own!!! As for myself... I've been avoiding most forms of media since Sat. so as to not have the ending of Harry Potter ruined for me. Just finished yest. --- would have finished earlier but had to reread the 6th one to refresh my memory first. Feel free to re-read my review of Stardust (out Aug. 10th) or 300 (out soon on dvd) or my acceptance speech when I realized J.B. was kind enough to bestow upon me my "U"-status--- found under J.B.'s birthday thread. Peace out... sorry for the long post, but I didn't want to up my post-promiscuous by another 5%. ;D

So do you think it will pick up once summer is over and some better movies come out?
Johhny I did not get my "I survived the beating" T-shirt, it must have been lost in the mail. I also have a problem with the fact that I never got an invitation to a spanking gauntlet >.<.

Well as long as you guys are all here and I have lulled you into a false sense of security with promisies of spankings, I will ask you which movies you are looking forward to in the fall/winter months.
I know that I am going to go see The Simpsons when it comes out but have not really looked into anything past that.

So do you think it will pick up once summer is over and some better movies come out? Probably. But then there'll be a huge discussion on one specific movie, people will get burned out, and it'll go silent for three straight days. At the very least you can say it's cool that the board has its own life cycle. Johhny I did not get my "I survived the beating" T-shirt, it must have been lost in the mail. That's probably the case. I also have a problem with the fact that I never got an invitation to a spanking gauntlet >.<. It seems none of the other guys got those inviations either. Darn post office. The girls were wondering why I was the only one there. Hey, it's not my job to make sure the envelopes get delivered correctly.

What movies I'm looking forward to....
I'll ditto the above list of J.B.'s and then add a few. (Although, I honestly don't really know about many upcoming movies, as I rarely go to the theatre anymore to see previews, etc...)
Here's the one's that are coming to mind and I really don't know when or if any of them will actually come out.
Once ?? I believe it's called. Becoming Jane (maybe... probably a rental though) Superbad (might see in theatre if someone tells me it's hysterical) Rush Hour 3, Nat'l Treasure 2, and I am Legend (I'd consider seeing in the theatre, depending upon how the previews look) Prince Caspian (Chronicles of Narnia) Day Watch (waiting for it on dvd... hopefully soon)
Here are the movies that I REALLY want to see:
PenelopeThe Darjeeling Limited Beowulf (the Neil Gaiman one, not the one w/ my boyfriend) Sweeney Todd (my other boyfriend is in this one)

I am really out of the loop this fall/winter so really don't know of any good movies out right now, and I am counting on your lists to send me to "The Cinematic Display of the Century".
I hear and think the Jason Bourne series looks cool but never got around to seeing them.
