I am leery of seeing romantic comedies in the theatre. Yet... I had two co-workers tell me that this movie was hilarious. One of them even said that she normally isn't a fan of the genre. So, instead of seeing Repo Man, my aunt and I went w/ the Gerard Butler/ Jennifer Aniston romp. Well, I do love Gerard Butler, but even he couldn't save this movie for me. Was it the worst attempt at a romantic comedy --- no, not by far. Still... I didn't think it was very funny at all. Maybe it was that I had been expecting it to be "hilarious" or maybe it's because I'm not a fan of Jennifer Aniston (at least not as an actress). * I try to like her, but she has never won me over in anything since Friends. Sad, but true. * So... my advice for what it is worth is to wait for cable or maybe a rental for this one. If you want to laugh out loud over a bounty hunter (romantic comedy) story --- then go to your public library and check out the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich. It's often formulaic and predictable like most romantic comedies, but it truly is laugh out loud funny. And if it was a movie, it would be PG-13. So, you are forewarned. Now, I shall look forward to Gerard's next movie out this Friday--- HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON--- I cannot wait for this one!!!!

Did you see Gerard in The Ugly Truth? It was his performance in that one that convinced me that he could do Romcoms. (Just be forewarned, most of the humor is quite dirty.)
And they are making a Stephanie Plum movie. With Katherine Heigl as Stephanie. Should be cool.
While I hope to see this one sometime, (HUGE Aniston fan) I can wait for the DVD.

Yeah, I liked the Ugly Truth. I liked 27 Dresses better and Knocked Up better than that. But for a Gerard Butler RomCom, it was pretty good.
And perhaps not a comedy, but a bit of a love story... my favorite is Dear Frankie. ;D
And I just heard the other day about the Plum movie. I think Katherine Heigl would be good. Now they need a smoking Hot Morelli and a funny Lula and Grandma Mazur... who is the best comic character!!
If you like Jennifer Aniston, you will probably like it better than I did. I'd still suggest waiting for video.

Well, I waited until DVD, and yeah, I'm glad I did. It was cute, but too predicatble. And the ending sucked. The credits were rolling when I figured out it was over.
It was cool to see Carol Kane and Cathy Moriarty agian, though.
