Anyone have any opinion on this one?
I can't decide if I want to see it or not. It could go either way. It looks as though it has the potential to be incredibly lame.
I get nervous when the trailer starts off by listing all the other blockbusters the writer/director is famous for... makes me think that the current movie is going to $uck. Am I suppose to see it and think... well, ALIENS & TERMINATOR (& T2) were awesome. True Lies was pretty good/funny. This movie will probably be good too. I should go see it. And while I'm at it, I should pay extra and see it in IMAX 3-D... I mean, if I'm going to see it, right?
well... I have liked most of the part cyborg/machine-part human type stories he's worked on... including Dark Angel. (sigh) I will probably go see this. I'm not happy about it, but I will go and see it in the theater. I remain skeptical in regards to the movie being worth the price of admission, but we shall see.

I am looking forward to this one, and with the stellar cast I am more inclined to believe this will be good. While I too hate things being promoted on past stuff instead of its own merit, I choose to look past the past credits and look at what they're showing me about the present item. While the story (an oppressed people becomes championed by one of the oppressors) is a very popular one with Hollywood politics (and the fact the oppression is all about money is ALSO a wild favorite with Hollywood), I'm totally for underdog stories so I'm intrigued. I also like the main actors in the film, especially newbie Sam Worthington from Terminator Salvation, and the special effects look stellar. That's three reasons: cool story, good actors, and nice eye candy to get me to see this. Of course, in all fairness, I'll be paid to see it, but I think if I didn't work at a theater this would be one of the 3 movies a year I'd see myself seeing in the theater rather than renting. Truth be told on another point as well, I'm actually looking forward to Sherlock Holmes more than Avatar- but Avatar is a close second.
