I didn't like this and I do not feel this is a kids movie at all. It's very slow, and the monsters have very "adult" issues that kids won't understand and/or care about and I don't like the behavior examples exhibited in the the film. I also don't feel that one of the monster's getting an arm ripped off is an image that belongs in a child film. I'm not sure why they bothered trying to connect this to the kids' book either. It stays with the original material better than Cloudy With Meatballs did, but honestly, Hollywood seems to think "based" means you keep the names.......

I cannot wait to see this. I was going to go see it the other night but I allowed my friend to pick and we saw Paranormal Activity instead. I didn't like that one so much. I think that this movie (WtWTA) is going to make its money off of adults. I wouldn't take my niece to it as I think she'd get bored, but I have such nostalgia for the book ... as do so many of us in my age bracket.... that I can't wait to see it.

I liked the book too, and supposedly the author collaborated on the movie. Apparently the director was going for the audience of adults who have nostalgia for the book, but my reasoning is parents usually want to share something they enjoyed from their childhood with their kids, but I guess not.....
Anyway, curious to know what you think of it and if you like it-from what I know of your tastes I think you will.
