So... if anyone out there knows some anti-rain dances, head to the dance floor. For a Tropical Storm, Fay has done more damage than many of the previous hurricanes that hit Florida in the past few years.
Gustav is taking a different track, good for us... not so good for Louisiana. Wonder if the Republican Nat'l Convention will be postponed if it gets bad and hits New Orleans?
Now Hannah is looking like it is going to take the same path as Fay. We've been lucky so far and haven't personally had any flooding... but our neighborhood has areas in which the water is getting dangerously close to people's houses. They say that it will take about 2 weeks (if no rain) for the waters to recede to normal levels. Just in time for Hannah.
Keep your fingers crossed for me! (And for those in the Gulf States)
Thanks! --D

This is why I live in CA. Earthquakes (like the 5.4 one we had the other week) I can handle. Tornados/Hurricanes? Not so much, oktnxbai.

I'm just the opposite - with hurricanes you get some warning and can get out of the way. With tornados and earthquakes you don't get much warning. Thankfully we aren't too prone to getting tornados - just waterspouts. We had a waterspout several years ago that started in the Atlantic and came ashore. One lady was killed and the damage was unbelievable. I don't know how those folks in "Tornado Alley" deal with that every year. One was more than enough for me!
