I am 24 years old, but I can't help it, I am so excited for this movie. Anyone else?

Did you read the book and/or the series? I read the first book and was appalled. They have a very abusive relationship and while I think Edward loves her in his own way, but she just lusts after him. Where is the romance that everyone keeps talking about? I love the book's concept of vampires and I like Edward's family, but that's all the merits I found in the book. I'll still be seeing the movie -- I'll be getting paid to screen it. I am slightly interested in seeing how they change the story for the movie as Hollywood always does.....

I'm 35 (but only very recently ;D) and I am torn... both for the release of Breaking Dawn and for the movie Twilight. I just reread Twilight Sat. and Sunday after getting out of work.) My sister has read the entire series probably 7-8 times. This puts my 3 to shame. Anyway... I love this series. I love Edward (and all the Cullens) and I love Jacob, too. Anyway... as for the movie, I am interested in seeing what they do with it; but since I am such a fan of the books, I am almost sure to be disappointed. Oh... btw, TaMara... have you been to Stephenie Meyer's website and read the first Chapter of Midnight Sun? It's awesome. Seeing the first Chapter of Twilight, essentially, revisited through Edwards voice and perspective this time. I don't think that Edward is abusive at all, btw. But different strokes and all that. I will say that as far as romance type girly novels go... this series is right up there with Pride and Prejudice for me. I just don't tire of reading it and the characters make me go all weak in the knees. Anyway.... I have to go now and start on New Moon. (My least favorite of the three books... it takes awhile to get going, but then it's good. I should be done with Eclipse by Thursday or Friday. Maybe Saturday. I do work and have homework to do at some point. Anyway... it was cool to see someone mention Twilight... I know I've mentioned it on the this site before, but I literally just mentioned it in my last post and then... here it is being mentioned in the upcoming movies. Awesome. I'll keep my fingers crossed that its good and does the books some semblance of justice.

It was a very physical relationship. He'd drag her around if she wouldn't do exactly what he wanted. That's not very healthy....
My sister read the first book and it finally made her realize how she was in an abusive relationship. We both came to the same conclusion about the relationship in the book seperately and I didn't even know about her personal relationship.

I wish their relationship would get "more physical"... I can hardly stand it. Enough with the proper gentleman already. Sheesh! Well... in anycase... as I said, I had just finished rereading Twilight --- AGAIN--- and I don't see the physical abuse of which you speak. I fell asleep last night shortly after posting... stupid thyroid!!!... so I barely even got to read any of New Moon until after school today. I am about 2/3rds the way done with it. I will be finished before bed tonight. The problem then becomes that I am going to have to fight not to skip school tomorrow so that I can finish reading Eclipse, which I can guarantee I will reach for the moment I'm done with the 2nd book. I, however, respect your opinion and will not fight you on them. It is almost a sickness with me, though. I've read the books through probably 3 times (back to back); I've browsed certain sections on many occasions, too. And... I also listen to the story and sometimes practice steno writing to it. Yep, I'm such a loser that I've recorded myself reading the books. My sister actually owns the audio book of Twilight, but I can't get used to it. The chic just doesn't sound right. Hey... they can't all sound as yummy and delicious as when, let's say, Neil Gaiman reads his own works. He ROCKS!!! Anyway... I just love, love, love these books. I just watched the teaser trailer though and I can already tell I'm going to have to prepare myself before seeing it. I am fully expecting it to be awful, in the hopes that I won't be too, terribly disappointed.

They can't get "physical" as yo put it because he's too strong, he probably hurt her if he didn't outright kill her.
Yep, we'll just agree to disagree.
Hopefully for your sake the movie won't completely suck.

Ah, but they will try to get "physical" right after they get married. And then hopefully, she'll get turned into a vampire, but I don't know if the author is going to follow through with any of these plans. I can't wait to find out. Aug. 2nd!!!
nice unintentional vampire pun. smile.
My dreamy fantasy men... Mr. Darcy, Edward Cullen, and Jacob Black (but I can't admit this as he's totally jailbait, but the werewolf thing has aged him physically, anyway. And I do like them tall. lol/smile.) Seriously, I couldn't get a date in high school and this girl has not one but two amazing catches... even if they are mythical creatures/monsters. What ever. smile.

I've read all of them. I was at Waldenbooks getting a copy of Breaking Dawn at midnight.
I have read the first chapter of Midnight Sun on the website. I can't wait for it; we will get to learn more about the Cullens and get to be in Edwards’s head (which is going to be interesting!) and see what a vampire really thinks. In Breaking Dawn part of the story is in Jacobs POV, so I really want to read in Edwards.
On the Twilight movie page they have both trailers and a short clip they showed at ComicCon that introduces all of the characters.
I don't think Edward is controlling or abusive at all. The only time he is controlling is in the beginning of Eclipse when he is trying to keep Bella from La Push.
But abusive? Physically or emotionally? Bella wants to spend all her time with him. Its just another case of a boy being more important than anything else. Even life. Just read Eclipse and see who has who wrapped around their finger.
I have heard nothing but bad things about Breaking Dawn. Did it go where I thought it was going? No. Was it really weird at times? Yes. But come on, if you've ever read The Host you should know shes got some weird ideas in her head. Was it good and did it give me what I wanted? Yes.
I've heard that the first movie now is all that is going to be made. I've also heard that Meyer said that if the last book was made that it should be two movies.
I do know that the movie was moved up to November, taking Half-Blood Princes weekend.

I liked all the books, though I found the last book extremely predictable. I saw almost everything coming. smile. I still enjoyed it though. I was REALLY looking forward to Midnight Sun, but apparently someone in Stephenie Myers inner circle leaked what she had finished so far and it can be found on the internet. She's soooo upset that she has now posted all the chapters that have been completed on her website (which I will be reading shortly) and has scrapped the idea of finishing the book/ publishing it. (Insert frowny face here.) I mean... I know how the book ends, but it would have been nice to see it all from Everyone else's perspective. It's cool because not only do you get Edward's point of view, but anyone who's in a near proximity to him. I quite liked the Host. I didn't know who to root for. smile. I'm now rereading the Land of Elyon books by Patrick Carmen. The newest one has come out. I've got to reread them all first, though to refresh my memory. Now that there is half of Midnight Sun out, maybe I'll read that instead. I'd rather she finish it and I'd buy it. Stupid people who like to spoil everything. My sister read it already and said that it ends before their date in the clearing, etc... I really wanted to read that from Edward's perspective. No first kiss.
