I got this one as a rental. It's by the guy who did L.I.E.
This was a random rental pick that I had actually never heard of. It was one of the few "recommended" movies that the Blockbuster online thing suggested to me that I hadn't already seen.
Tangent: If you spend time rating tons of movies so that some computer can run some kind of analysis and then based on that give you a recommendations of other movies you might like.... why would it recommend the same movies you've already rated and hence seen???
Anyway.... the tag line of the movie reads: " Do you know who your kids are?"
Without giving too much away.... the movie centers around some kids (who experience a loss of a friend/loved one) and how they deal with the proverbial cards they are dealt.
I liked this movie. It's no Stand By Me, but I remember how much I loved that film as a kid because it somehow rang true to me.
I didn't find a dead body when I was twelve; nor mourn the loss of a friend, but I remember life being A LOT MORE COMPLEX than the adults around me probably realized.
This movie reminded me of that... of trying to cope with the ailments of adolescent life ---when you're at that age when life stops being so simple.
The kids are good in the movie. Annabella Sciorra is in it and she's probably the only actor I knew by name.
There are a couple other actors I knew by face; Namely Bruce Wayne's dad from Batman Begins (Linus Roache) and an actor who's work I am very familiar with (Jeremy Renner) who played Dahmer and was on Angel. *** Remember, I'm a huge BtVS fan. In lots of other stuff, too. You can check him or the movie out on Imdb.com if you like.
Like the other adults in the movie he has a small part, although his is a bit bigger. He's really good and way less creepy than when he played Jeffery Dahmer.
Okay... end of tangents... I swear. The movie has kids doing some crazy things --- some adults as well. In the end, it's a nice little story.
If you check out the trailer and it looks interesting to you, as it did to me, then you'll probably like it.
