British films tend to be pretty obscure over here, so let's chat about some!
To start, has anyone seen the original Bedazzled? It's from 1967, and it stars Dudley Moore and Peter Cook. We all know Dudley Moore from such classics as Like Father Like Son , and Peter Cook was the infamous "Mawwage" clergyman in The Princess Bride. Well, they were a dynamic comedy duo in Britain during the 60s, and they do a brilliant job in this modern (1960s) take on the classic story of Faust.
I can't compare it to the recent remake with Brendan Fraser and Elizabeth Hurley, because I haven't seen it - but I'll take a stab in the dark and say that the original is probably worlds better...
Trick is, it's not available on DVD in the US, and the VHS is out of print. So, if you can find it, enjoy the dry British wit of these two legends... And then watch out - I might have to wrestle you to the ground for it.
Any other British favorites that you all would like more Americans to see?
