Okay, LOST fans, what did you think of the finale? (By the way, if it's still sitting unwatched on your TiVo, you probably shouldn't read on... I don't know if I can talk about it without revealing a spoiler or two...)
I heard a rumor that J.J. Abrams was hyping it as the best finale ever, and though he might not have been completely justified in his bold claims, it was better than I expected it to be. And it was much better than the Season 1 finale.
I found the episode to be extremely entertaining overall. And it revealed things in a way that temporarily satisfied my curiousity, but at the same time, opened up a world of questions. But that's what we love about LOST, right?
Personally, I love catching all of the supporting players who we've seen before in other people's flashbacks... The Army General who let Sayid go, Libby giving away her boat, etc. And the fake Henry Gale was super creepy at the end! He made me worry for the power trio...
I would have loved to have seen Hurley take Michael out... It came so close when he found out that Michael had been the one to shoot Ana Lucia and Libby. I couldn't believe that nobody did anything when that nasty little tidbit was revealed!
The best thing about this episode, though, was Desmond! Talk about an underrated character - and actor! I really hope he makes it. He's way too interesting and complex to just disappear. But, signs point to the kill-off... He did receive the pre-death life-story flashbacks that Boone and Shannon got in their last episodes...
I must say that I do have hope that we'll see Brett Cullen (our beloved Sheriff, Sam Cain) return as Goodwin, because I'm predicting that Season 3 will be all about those pesky "Others." And I am more than curious to see if the writers can reverse our way of thinking when it comes to "good" and "evil" on the island. I genuinely want them to convince me that The Others are the good guys. It could be a very interesting journey to take...
Here are my big questions that will haunt me all summer: 1) Of course - did Des make it? 2) What happened to Locke and Eko? (Locke was worse than "Debby Downer" in this episode - I hope they snap him out of that) 3) And what was that whole scene at the end with the Russians and Des's woman?? (My humble prediction - perhaps it has something to do with that book of his... did she plant something in it along with the note? She knew that he'd always have the book with him - so, did she install some sort of tracking device? And did the electromagnetic pulse help to send the signal all the way to the Russians???) 4) And what the hell was with that statue? I had a "Planet of the Apes" moment...
Okay, I must stop - or I will go on forever! Let me know what you thought!

I really enjoyed the finale, and while yes, Abrams' "the greatest season finale of all time" proclamation probably was a bit of an exaggeration, I was still satisfied with the answers we were given and I'm looking forward to the new conflicts that must be dealt with next season. I was also wondering if Hurley was going to do anything to Michael. He gave him quite the dirty look and that could've been quite the doozy of a turning point for Hurley's character. We already know he's a little crazy, so I thought there was potential there for him to snap. I liked Desmond also. I personally feel he's a much better character than many of the regulars and was hoping he'd be a regular next season, but that's not looking likely. Now on to your questions... 1) Of course - did Des make it?I hope so, but if I had to guess I'd say no. The hatch was supposed to blow up when he turned the key, but we never saw or heard an explosion, right? Or did I miss something? Never underestimate the writers' abilities to swerve us. 2) What happened to Locke and Eko? (Locke was worse than "Debby Downer" in this episode - I hope they snap him out of that)They're dead! Nah, just a little cliffhanger for us. I'm sure next season will start off by showing them escape the hatch just in time (assuming it did blow up completely). 3) And what was that whole scene at the end with the Russians and Des's woman?? (My humble prediction - perhaps it has something to do with that book of his... did she plant something in it along with the note? She knew that he'd always have the book with him - so, did she install some sort of tracking device? And did the electromagnetic pulse help to send the signal all the way to the Russians???)Well, they were tracking electromagnetic disturbances, so how exactly would that allow them to find the tracking device? Couldn't they have located it before there were any sort of EMF disturbance? I just can't reconcile how that would have triggered it. I wouldn't be at all surprised if that ended up being unrelated to Desmond and it just happened to be a coincidence that he was on the island. I can't wait to see how it plays out. 4) And what the hell was with that statue? I had a "Planet of the Apes" moment...
Perhaps this is an island from mythological times and it'll turn out that Greek gods and goddesses roamed the land. In fact, that's what the huge monster is! It's Zeus stomping around! Seriously, I have no idea. And what is up with the foot only having four toes??? We've got a lot to look forward to. And does anybody think Michael will return? I saw him on Conan the other night and he said he honestly doesn't know if he'll be back or not. He's still under contract, but the writers won't tell him if he'll be needed. He joked about not knowing if he'll have a job next season. What did everybody think of Jack and Kate nodding towards each other at the end? Jack looked at Michael, and then he turned to Kate and nodded, and then she nodded back. Perhaps they formulated a plan with Michaelthat is about to be hatched? Or maybe I'm just reading stuff into it that isn't there. All right, discuss...

Ah, now that I've read these spoilers, I have no need to watch the episode! Yay!
Mr. C should have watched it while I was at work today - sigh. He'll end up wanting to watch it while I'm here, and then I'll be bored. He actually suggested watching it a little while ago, but our air conditioner is extremely loud, and it makes the tv hard to hear, so he decided not to watch something as important as that.
Hee:)

Hee:) Haha, that is so totally me. When there's something important like that on then I too must demand absolutely no distractions.

Well, he watched it tonight, and I think that weird flash of light was the hatch blowing up. I didn't pay attention to most of it, but I did watch the last 20 minutes or so. Was it just me, or was this the show that just would not end? Every time it went black, and I expected the Lost logo to pop up, they went to another scene. Sigh. Oh, did anyone happen to get the Alias finale on DVR/Tivo who would be willing to transfer it to video/dvd and share? Mr. C forgot to set the DVR and missed it because we just HAD to go on our honeymoon. He's very upset and would love to see it.

If you're looking to watch the series finale of Alias, you can try the abc website. I found out while I was browsing there that they have the entire episode available to watch. Supposedly...I didn't actually watch it -my attention span was too short that day and I just wanted to know what happened in the last few minutes.

I can't wait for the second season to come out on dvd so I can actually watch it. I barely caught any this season... as I worked most wed. nights. I've seen so few episodes in fact that having read all your comments--- well, I don't feel like anything has been spoiled for me. I think I saw the episode before the finale? maybe.... or perhaps I did see the finale. Huh? I saw the episode that answered one question---- "What happens to one's character when one (the actor) gets a DUI & bad press?"

Watched Season one on DVD this winter. Watched Season two last week in three days of a LOST marathon. When does season 3 start? I must get an antenna for my TV so I can pick up ABC and continue LOSt. I can't wait another year for season 3 on DVD.

It's not fair!
The promo looked good... it looks like Locke will be back.
They're having another recap on the 27th. I can't count the number of times I've now seen "...how it all began." I hope they cater to the loyal fans this year and leave the non-fans in the dust for a change. No more mid-season re-airings of the pilot or the over-simplified clip shows. The dvds are out - people can catch up on their own...

I don't think I've actually seen any promos but I've read enough spoilers to know that it's going to be good. NBJ - I agree - keep us loyal fans interested. No more "how it all began" shows. Although - I could stand to see the finale one more time.

The dvds are out - people can catch up on their own... Good news - the first six episodes will air as their own mini-series. Then Lost will take its entire season hiatus. This includes baseball playoff games and whatever else. Then when it returns it will show the rest of the season's episodes all in a row without any weeks off. That's what ABC is saying, at least.
