I have to say that the only reason I was watching this to begin with was because it was on right before Heroes. So congratulations, NBC network executives, I fell for your lures.
And I have to say that I came away quite pleasantly surprised. Chuck is a lot funnier, more action-packed, and smarter than I thought it was going to be. I guess my only complaint is about the cast, who, aside from Adam Baldwin, were total strangers to me. And yet, they all looked familiar enough, as though I felt I should know who they are. For instance:
-Chuck looks like a cross between Zach Braff and the guy from the Mac/PC ads, and acts like a cross between the guy from Ed and Jim Halpert.
-Sarah looks a lot like Katharine Hiegel. At least to me, anyway.
-Chuck's best friend looks like a poor man's Tom Green, except that Tom Green is a poor man's Tom Green. (I'll be here all week, folks!)
-Chuck's sister looks like a taller version of Mandy Moore.
-Chuck's sister's boyfriend looks like the guy who is supposed to marry Eliot on Scrubs. (Ketih? Kyle? I can't remember. The tall, square-jawed Ayran guy.)
-Chuck's boss looks a lot like Chi McBride.
Now, I'm not sure if this was done intentionally or not. If it was, it begs the question as to why. Was it because NBC couldn't get their dream cast and instead went with some look alikes (and a Baldwin brother)? Or was it so that people would merely think they were watching an all-star cast (and a Baldwin brother)? The mind boggles at the thought.
Still, I have to reiterate my original point, which is that I really liked Chuck, and will be giving it another shot.
update: I just realized that Adam Baldwin isn't related to the other Baldwins of yore. My apologies to Adam for lumping him in with them. (Wow...the things you learn...)
