Okay, TYR DVD owners, or anyone with any episodes on tape...
I've mentioned before that "Bulldog" is my favorite episode. But something about it has always bugged me: (Don't read on if you haven't seen it and don't want a spoiler)
How does Ambrose die at the end? What in the H-E-double-hockey-sticks happens to him?
When he saves Jimmy from the explosive and falls to the ground, there is NO WOUND on his back, where the blood appears later. (Believe me, I slo-mo'd it plenty as a kid.) Bulldog never gets up again, so are we to believe that he gets shot in the back while LYING on his back on the ground???
This has been a mystery to me since I first saw it. Call it the “Who shoots Ambrose?” mystery.
Any thoughts?

I always thought the explosives blew off his legs and he bled to death. The blood could easily spread so that it looks like it comes from his back. Or maybe it damaged his back a lot too - I just figured the explosives were what killed him though.
Hmmmm...maybe I should go watch the episode again and obsess over all the details. It's been a loooooooooooong time since I've done that!

Good thing Ms. Cali responded to this because I meant to, but I forgot. Then it dropped off the "Last 10 Posts" lists and who knows if I would have ever remembered.
Anywho...
I'm pretty sure that Bulldog dies from the explosives. The original lack of blood is just a bit of bad editing.
Of course, there's also the theory that Bulldog was forced to sit through a Kid episode and that's what finished him off. That's an alternative that I can certainly accept.

No, JB, it's wasn't The Kid, it was that someone shot at him because he didn't swear to them that he wasn't a tree. Apparently, that gets even the worst of actors outlaws off the hook, so it should have worked for a good guy too.

Good theories all. Thanks for your help.
Word, Mr. Betts. Word.
I'd much rather believe that than the continuity error... it helps keeps alive the notion that "The Young Riders" - and more specifically, my favorite episode - was infallible. ...And that The Kid sucked that much.
Speaking of Sarah Downs, I wish I was good at editing dvds on my computer. I would replace all of her scary "prettiest girl I ever seen" footage with footage of me. Wouldn't that be a dream to do, Jimmy fans? Come on - someone out there has got to be able to do that... let's see it.
Kid fans: Don't feel bad - you could edit in footage of yourself over footage of Katie!

I refuse to buy a DVD Player on principle.
Besides, why buy a DVD player to watch anything on my 10 inch TV? I think I'll just stop watching TV altogether and hang out on the stoop with the neighbors.

I refuse to buy a DVD Player on principle. OK, you're gonna have to explain exactly what principle you're abiding by here.

The principle is that I'm paying an exorbitant amount in rent for a "furnished" apartment. I think a TV and DVD player would be involved in such a deal. I have not discussed this with my realtor yet - he probably thinks the 10" color TV in the living room is suitable.
So I'm not buying one for myself, because my employer is paying a drastically inflated price for this place, and I think that should get me a DVD player.
principle.

Rhiannon, with the current crop of new movie releases, sitting on the stoop with your neighbours is bound to be far more entertaining.

Having watched way too many medical dramas, I'm inclined to guess that the shock from being too close to the explosives when they went off actually snapped something in his spine. He still had legs. There wasn't any obvious blood. If something in his spine snapped, that would account for the immediate paralysis and eventual death. Ok, that's just me getting technical... take it with a grain of proverbial sea salt.
