I am so excited about the basketball season! I just wished we had won the other night. Yeah, I showed this little punk at work. He claimed he was 16 but I don't believe that. Anyways, I sat them and the Tigers game was on so he was like "That's the team we want to win!" and i was like "Yeaah," and the boy was like "Yeah, see that guy rodney carney!? He's the man!" me "Yeah, he is the man" and the kid was going on like I didn't know Tiger basketball so he was all like "Carney had 32 points last night!" and i was like "No, he had 33" boo yah. I don't know if that was right but that's what i saw on ESPN! Maybe I should've wowed him with my Wimprine facts

The Tigers play some big teams this year. They play Maryland, Texas, Providence, Purdue, and Pittsburgh. I think they can beat Texas, Providence, Pittsburgh, and Purdue. Maryland is going to be a tuff game. Dorsey is a rebounding machine. He is only a freshmen. He reminds me of Rodman except without attitude.

The problem with the big games that we play is that only one is in Memphis (Providence) - the rest are on neutral courts (Maryland, Pittsburgh) or on the road (Purdue, Texas).
We should at least win 2 out of 5.

Yeah - leave it to an ACC team to kill your dreams!!! Go ACC! The ACC won't ruin any of our dreams, Ms. Rhiannon. Too bad we don't have NC St. on the schedule this year. It would've been nice to have a cream puff to play amidst the tough games. *runs for cover*

More like a 3-day old cream puff, one that is hard to chew, and sits like a brick in your stomach.

So far it has been a very disappointing season for the Tigers they have not beaten a ranked team yet. Hopefully tonight they can sneak out of Texas with a win.

The team took a big blow this weekend with two losses. We lost to TCU by a late shot. The Tigers lost 61-59. Also, we lost Sean Banks for the second semester because of academic reasons. He might not even wear a Tigers jersey ever again because he might go in the NBA Draft. If he does it might not be a smart thing because he hasn't had a very good season. Hopefully, things can't get any worse.

The Tigers have been on a streak. In that streak they stomped Louisville at home. It was one of their worst loses in the Pitrino era. It looks like they may even make the tournament. What I can't understand is our RPI ranking, 108. Whats up with that!!! If we don't get in, I'm blaming the people who changed the RPI.

What I can understand is our RPI ranking, 108. Whats up with that!!! If we don't get in, I'm blaming the people who changed the RPI. If they were using last year's RPI formula then we'd be at #81. Those early home losses against Ole Miss and LA Tech are killing us. But I did hear that the selection committee has decided to use a combination of this year's and last year's RPI calculations, so that's good news for us. I think that we'll be fine if we beat St. Louis, win 2 out of 3 against Louisville, Cincinatti, and Charlotte, and then win at least one (and preferably two) in the conference tournament. It'll be interesting...

Well, the Louisville game blew. But guess who I met! Deangelo Williams! He was so nice and I told him thank you for staying and I gave him a big hug! It was awesome! I wish Wimprine had been with him and that I had a camera with me!

In order for Memphis to go to the tournament they have to win out. Those two games we lost last week were very big games. What I can't understand is how we lost. We were leading at halftime of both games. We need to become a second half team. We play well for the first 20 minutes and the last 20 minutes we can't make a shot if our life depended on it. We have great players on the team and I can't believe we're playing like this. It just doesn't make since.

In order for Memphis to go to the tournament they have to win out. Unfortunately, I think the only way for us to make the tournament now is to win the conference tournament. We really needed to beat at least Louisville or Charlotte. There's no doubt the officials stole the Charlotte game from us, but the Louisville loss is solely on our 19% shooting. Sheesh. We were up by 11 with 9 minutes to go! Sigh.

Well the Tigers almost won the tournament. They went to the finals for the first time since the conference became the Conference-USA. The lost by one point to Louisville 75-74. The Tigers point guard, freshmen Darius Washington, was fouled with no time left on the clock. He got to shoot three free throws because he was fouled behind the three point line. He made the first one and missed the second and third. As soon as he missed the third one he fell to the floor and put his head in his jersey. He had to be helped off the court by one of his teammates and coach Cal. I'm not upset at all we lost because he missed the free throws. Darius Washington is a great player and the blame should not be put on him. Some of the games we won he helped us win. He never gave up in the finals and thats why the game went down to the wire. If he had given up I would not be writing this right now. We probably would not have gotten to the finals. The Tigers are now going to the NIT. I look for them to win it all if they play like they did in tournament.
