Heh. Why not. His dad played Reagan.
I can't stand to hear Bush talk (I'm sorry, but "Ter" and "Nuculer" are NOT words). His voice, his pronunciations, his grammar, and his accent grate on my nerves. I don't mind when they do impressions of him on SNL, or Mad TV, or The Daily Show though, so I am sure I won't mind watching Josh Brolin play him. Hopefully. I'll even watch an Oliver Stone movie for Josh Brolin. That was some good Strategery on Stone's part, casting JB like that.

Of course Stone says it'll be "fair and balanced." He probably thought "Triumph of the Will" was pretty even-handed as well.

I have never watched an Oliver Stone movie, but I do know that "fair and balanced" is laughable. I can't wait for GWB to get out of office; I think he's the worst president we've had in a long time; I think he's a horrible human being, and I don't know if all the drugs he did when he was younger fried his brain or if he was just born stupid. But nobody is one dimensional, and I'm the last person to look at the world as black & white, so I would be highly upset if the movie focused on that. I'd like to see less of the political side of GWB and more of a biography type movie, which it sounds like Stone is going for. He'll still need to be careful with how he approaches it. This is the type of movie where it would be easy to do a caricature instead of a real biography (which is exactly what would happen if someone like, say, Michael Moore were behind this). I don't want a movie that just cements my opinion of GWB - I want one that makes me have to examine that opinion and decide if I still hold it or not.
And I want Josh Brolin to be hot in it, but that goes without saying. LOL.
Oh, and I don't think Stone would have thought "Triumph of the Will" was even-handed, since Nazism is as extreme right as you can get, and he's obviously a far-left leaning liberal. But he did make a film about Fidel Castro that was too favorable toward him according to HBO. They wanted him to put more about the political prisoners in it - so he's obviously far left enough to embrace communism at least somewhat.

if a person does what appears to be crazy things, then there are probably 2 reasons
1) they are crazy 2) they know something that you dont
history will show us which is correct

I agree with Tigerjeb - history is a great decider of many things.
And actually, the Nazis were left-leaning socialists. Hitler preached class warfare, he thought capitalism was an evil scheme of the Jews, he called for the nationalization of education and health care, he enforced very strict gun control, and pornography and abortion were encouraged.
So I would think Triumph of the Will would be right up Stone's alley.
Do I believe he'll stick by his "fair and accurate" claim? Nope. But I am quite curious to see Josh's portrayal.
