Hmm... interesting.
Six very different actors all playing the part of Bob Dylan.
Might be interesting to see this merely for the performances... never mind the story.
Seriously.... Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Marcus Carl Franklin, Richard Gere, Heath Ledger and Ben Whishaw.

Why is this the only thread on this movie? Because my brother doesn't care about it? I saw it today and it is great and I absolutely loved it. If you are a Dylan fan or an open-minded movie goer then I suggest you see it. I also think you should watch at least No Direction Home if you do decide to go. I've seen NDH and read Chronicles Vol. I and I know I would have been pretty lost even though I've listened to his music for years. I just really loved the small details and symbolism. I'm reliving high school English on the IMdb message board. I loved the way it was filmed. Black and white/color and it wasn't in chronological order. It switched from character to character which I enjoyed. My friend said she was lost and it had no storyline or plot but she doesn't know much about Dylan's life. I think every actor was great especially Cate Blanchett, Christian Bale (can he do anything wrong?), and Marcus Carl Franklin. Ledger, Whishaw, and Gere were great, too but the others just stood out to me.
I know some people have said they don't want it to destroy this mythological view they have of Dylan but it only adds myth than exposes it. Pay attention to the Jane Baez character saying Jack Rollins (Bale) wants to be/is like (can't remember which) Billy the Kid and that Gere's character is Billy the Kid. It may help you understand Gere's character better. I can't wait to watch No Direction Home again, finally see No Turning Back, and reread Chronicles then see the movie again.
Well, I just wanted to show this movie some love since I know Johnny won't say much about it since he hates Dylan and says he is overrated. He is just jealous.

;D
Good to know. I appreciate the info. I will add it to my ever growing list of of things to see/read as suggested by others.
And I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Cate Blanchett and Christian Bale.
*He is one of my pretend boyfriends; if I was gay, Blanchett would be a pretend girlfriend. She rocks!

No problem. Cate Blanchett was awesome. It was eerie how much she resembled Dylan at times. Bale had Dylan's mannerisms down (as did Cate). Marcus Carl Franklin was adorable and was great at acting as an old soul in a young body. It makes me wish I was an English teacher so I could show it to the students and discuss it.

I'm going tuesday, desperate to see Cate Blanchett's performance. But also Bale and Ledger.
