Cutting Edge meets Take the Lead meets Save the Last Dance. So seing that one. You'd be hard-pressed to find a triple combo of movies that I'd be less interested in seeing crammed into one. Just watch So You Think You Can Dance. The dancers are better, and it's free!

This movie sums up all the quintessential unrealistic female fantasies-- changing the "bad boy"; men enjoy dancing, skating, talking, etc.; true love will be found under said circumstances... Basically, the female version of porn.
oh, I'm gonna hear about this, I just know...

Mr. C has already resigned himself to seeing this one. This and Bring It On 3 - The Bringining.

Sadly enough, they actually ARE making a Bring it on 3.
Seriously, all of you ladies who gladly watch Step Up (or BIO3, Ms. Cali) - I don't want to hear complaints about how Hollywood doesn't make anything original any more.

Haha!!! Laslo, that's so true and very funny. I don't like those movies because I wish they were real, I like them because they're fun and have pretty people who can dance. JB- I still don't have TV!!!!!!! So I will pay to see silly movies like this. Probably alone.

Ladies, I say do yourselves a favor and rent Billy Elliot instead of seeing this - I'm betting that it has a better message and (much) better performances... and it definitely has thick, subtitle-worthy accents!
C'mon - who doesn't love a challenge?!?

Ah, Nikki, the point of the movie is the message, or the acting/writing quality, it's all about the silly storyline and the dancing! It's one of those movies that I want to see just because it's pure fluff.
And JB, I'm not kidding about Bring it On 3. Mr. C is not happy that he's going to be seeing that one, but he is! (I think it's called BiO3: All or Nothing, but I like The Bringining better).

Me too, "The Bringining" is hilarious. When I looked it up on IMDb I was hoping that was the real title. I should have known Hollywood wouldn't be that creative, so I'm glad you came up with it.

Well, I don't know if I can take credit for it or not - I don't remember if it was me, Mr. C, or our friend Scott who came up with the title (we are all incredibly witty people). But I will do my part to keep the hilarity spreading!

I'm just reminded of The Simpsons episode where Lisa goes to see "Tango de la Muerte" with Marge. It is the greatest dance movie spoof ever. The best line:
After spinning his formerly shy and bookish partner around, the suave male lead tells her: "You are now carrying my child." "But how?" "It is the mystery of the dance."

Cutting Edge meets Take the Lead meets Save the Last Dance. So seing that one. Hey. I'm in. =) Top it off with a little Strictly Ballroom and we'll call it good. (much like you call an ice cream sundae good. It's not good for you, but you like the taste. ) *evil grins abound* hee. Don't mind me, I'm in a very pleased mood this morning. Got another positive reply from Kirsten Prout of Kyle XY/Elektra fame. (I *know*, I *know*, Elektra...not so much for the rest of you, but.. the actress girl is actually nice to people.) So that's what's going on.

Oh Laslo.... from the previews I've seen for his movie... I can safely say... that this is NOT my (or any women I know) idea of porn. * That is one of the fundamental reasons that many women can't get into porn.... lack of a good story line. *
I will pass on the porn AND on this movie.
*** I did, however, enjoy Save the Last Dance. Mainly because I liked the soundtrack and because that movie gem gave us the classic lines: "How's my butt?" and "I would never bust a cap in your... ". (Hush your mouth) ***
Oh... and I do recall liking the aforementioned Cutting Edge (but I don't think I'll be seeing the second installment of that either). It just wouldn't be the same w/out Moira Kelly's "Toe Pick" ringing in my ear.
I hope that this movie brings much fluffy enjoyment for those of you whose eyes lit up instead of rolled when you saw the preview.
Enjoy! smile.
Ciao.... Dew

;D Okay.. while skimming through my old posts trying to find the one where I asked about cures for insomnia... I saw this and had to laugh... because "someone" gave me this movie after I said some dreadful things about it... I do have to admit before everyone here today (all 7 or 8 regular viewers/post-ers) that I actually kind of liked it. It was no save the last dance, but it was okay. I'm sure glad that I "won" it. *** And while I'm drunk from lack of sleep (seriously... I actually do feel a bit intoxicated... not to mention nauseated), I will now also admit something else. I saw the preview for the sequel... yes there is a sequel to Step Up... and while I would never pay to see it in a theatre... I will be looking for it on Cable. lol/smile.
