So what are your favorite classic teen movies.
My list:
10 Things I Hate About You ("Where do you come from? Planet Loser?" "Oh, as opposed to planet 'Look at me! Look at me!" hee) She's All That Bring It On Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken
I'm not really a fan of all the John Hughes movies though - hated Pretty in Pink and Sixteen Candles and could take or leave Breakfast Club.
And I know I'm missing some movies, but I can't think of them! What other teen movies do I like?

Can't Hardly Wait Clueless Empire Records Pretty much everything John Hughes/Cameron Crowe (at least during 80's/90's)
Ah... you should break this down by decades!!
50's --- I can't really speak on this too much except from a special I watched on "delinquent films" or from flipping channels. Here's what I've got... Gidget Movies & other teen beach movies like Beach Blanket Bingo. (Actually... these may be early 60's???) Okay... back to the delinquent films & classic teen drive in horror movies of this time. ex's--- It Came from Outer Space, The Blob, etc... vs. Blackboard Jungle, Rebel without a Cause, etc...
60's... still before my time... going w/ the aforementioned Beach movies w/ Frankie Avalon & Annette Funacello... okay... I have no idea how to spell her name.
70's... ah ha... I can finally mention some movies that I have actually seen. Cooly High, Shaft, any blacksploitation films. American Graffitti, Grease, Animal House, Meatballs (spaz, spaz, spaz!!), etc...
80's... hello!!! Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Weird Science, Sixteen Candles, Pretty In Pink, Somekind of Wonderful, Breakfast Club, St. Elmo's Fire. Adventures in Babysitting (love that movie!), Just One of the Guys, Can't Buy me love (my love affair w/ Patrick Dempsey begins... who doesn't know the African Anteater Dance?)... Revenge of the Nerds (a true classic!) The Entire Porkey's Franchise (which I wasn't supposed to watch but I had a friend w/ HBO), Outsiders (if only Soda pop's towel would have dropped a little lower.. how I wished it would fall)... I am sure there are plenty more, but that is a good start.
90's... this is where my list originally started w/ Can't Hardly Wait (a guilty pleasure) & And 10 things I Hate About You (another guilty pleasure), Never Been Kissed, A couple movies w/ Pauly Shore in them--- titles are currently escaping me. Oh... Don't Tell mom the Babysitter's Dead (I'm right on top of that Rose!), Singles, Say Anything... actually that one may still be 80's.
Okay... that's what my walk in the past got me... not sure as to the veracity of all the dates.. .but it's pretty good.
Tangent----- Hey... what's the name of the movie w/ the hazing of the underclassmen, the paddle, the potsmoking... the chic who resembles renea zellweger (sp?) who was in Chasing Amy? and Mathew McConaughy was amazing as the pothead who couldn't let go of the highschool girls and parties?

My mom was a big fan of the Gidget "beach" movies (and the tv show, starring Sally Field...which I actually liked better than the movies), but I never really liked the "teen" films from the 50s & 60s.
70's - Grease is pretty much the only one I've seen.
80's - I wasn't allowed to watch any of these movies back in the day (I've mentioned how strict my mom was...I was also a little young for most of them), but I have since become a fan of Girls Just Want to Have Fun (can't believe I left that off my list). I tried to like the John Huges films, but it wasn't working for me. I finally saw Ferris Bueller a couple years ago (I know, I know), and it was good. Not a favorite, but entertaining. Footloose and Dirty Dancing were big favorites in college (in the late 90s, but we loved the "rebellious" dancing movies, as my school had a rule against "social dancing").
90s - Now this is the decade I can relate to! LOL:) I love Clueless, Can't Hardly Wait, Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead, 10 Things I Hate About You (that was on tv this weekend, and I watched it even though I own it, because I will always watch it when it's on TV), She's All That (another I will watch every time it's on tv)...
2000s - Bring it On, Mean Girls, 13 Going on 30...

American Pie... big teen movie... and funny (well... the first one anyway)
MsCali.... me thinks you are trying to make me feel old.
want some salt to rub in my wound??? just teasing.
Would Save the Last Dance count? I saw that opening night (because that's when a friend and I both had off) and it was definitely the Mtv generation filling the audiences. smile.
Not MY Mtv generation mind you... that would be the Martha Quinn/ Remote Control generation. I have a Remote Control sweatshirt that I refuse to throw away or give to good will. Why??? I'm not sure.
lol/smile.

Hmmmm...my goal in life is to be 80, so I would never actually try to make anyone feel old:) Mr. C just turned 30, and I'm jealous! LOL:) I wasn't a big fan of Save the Last Dance - I liked the story, but the two main characters just had no chemistry between them. The saddest was Not Another Teen Movie. Mr. C and I saw that in the theater, opening weekend, and it was filled with teens who had no idea about most of the movies that was referencing. I've never even seen any of the American Pie movies - I can already tell it wouldn't be one I liked.

Dazed and Confused. And since you ladies are responsible for bringing up She's All That, please allow me a moment of wistful sighing... Jennifer. Love. Hewitt. *sighs wistfully* OK, I'm done.

JLH wasn't in She's All That, JB...she was in Can't Hardly Wait.
But that's okay - you're forgiven for the mixup, because I know it doesn't take much to make you think about JLH:)

You're right; I was just easily distracted. It's one of those handy excuses we guys can use to play innocent. Thanks for your understanding! She's All That was the one where Rachel Leigh Cook was supposed to be a super nerd just because she wore glasses and had her hair in a pony tail or something. I loved the scene in Not Another Teen Movie that ripped on that.

I had forgotten that it was JLH in Can't Hardly Wait... I really did like that one. Is Ghost Whisperer still on the Air? Am I the only one that gets so distracted by her awful hair in that show that I have a hard time concentrating on anything else.

Awful hair?? Sometimes the bangs don't do it for me, but what, PRAY TELL, is wrong with this hair: *takes off gloves* That's it; it's go time...

Heathers
I used to be obsessed with that movie. I rate it even above The Breakfast Club.

I'm less distracted by her hair than her wardrobe...does she really need to wear an evening gown every day?
I don't watch the show regularly, but the few episodes I've seen have been pretty good. I used to be a big fan of her Party of Five spin off "The Time of Your Life".

Nothing is wrong with her hair in that picture, but in the actual show... most episodes (at least that I have seen)... her hair looks like a young girls--- straight and straight bangs. Most of the time it looks fake to me. It looks like it should be styled more (as it is in that picture that JB - her apparent champion- posted).
I'm convinced half the time that it's a wig or hair extensions or something.
Ah ha... that's part of it too. Her entire look wardrobe, hair, etc... doesn't seem "right" somehow to me. Now that this has been pointed out to me, I recall an episode in which you see her in her PJ's. Which is a nightgown... A nightgown that, once again doesn't fit. It just wasn't something that someone her age should be wearing.
I do not follow the show faithfully so perhaps someone has updated her hair and wardrobe since I last watched the show.
As for Johnny's threats:
I'm not afraid, you wanna scrap... let's go. Let me just make one observation first.. if your normal everyday attire includes gloves, perhaps this is why you don't think that there is something a little "off "w/ her character's hair and wardrobe.

I've got to say, that hairstyle is everywhere in hollywood right now - JLH, Rory on Gilmore Girls, Anne Hathaway in Devil Wears Prada, Ms. Cali in her little knitting store...LOL

*No comment as I wouldn't want anyone to deride my crushes*
Can't Hardly Wait is the kind of movie that gets worse each time you see it. The only parts I like now are the scenes between Lauren Ambrose and Seth Green.
I agree that 10 Things was the best teen film in recent years.
Trivia: The guy who played English teacher in that movie was later paralysed in an accident and turned up (with wheelchair) as regular cast member the TV seried 'Ed'.
Ooh, and I just remembered another great teen movie from 1980, I think. It was 'Reckless' and starred Daryl Hannah as a cheerleader and Aidan Quinn as the motorcycle bad boy who steals her away from her jock boyfriend (Adam Baldwin).
It really captures that disaffected youth in a small town thing quite well. Not available on DVD yet but my extremely old VHS copy still serves me.
Oh, and has anyone mentioned Footloose? Hee!
