What are some little gems that have probably slipped under the radar of the general public but which you really love?
Here's three of mine:
The Dish: Sam Neill, Patrick Warburton. This is the true story of the radio dish that relayed the television signal of the Apollo 11 moon landing. It's a charming glimpse into the small Australian town where the dish is located, as well as showing how the images from the moon landing almost never made it on the air.
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead: Tim Roth, Gary Oldman, Richard Dreyfuss. This is Hamlet as told from the point of view of two of the most minor characters from that play. Rapid-fire and hilarious dialogue.
Smoke Signals: Adam Beach, Evan Adams, Gary Farmer. A big winner at the Sundance Film Festival a few years ago, this is a funny and poignant tale of forgiveness and redemption set on a northern Idaho Indian reservation. Simply brilliant.
What are some of yours?

There is this German Indie film called "Funny Games" that my dad taped off IFC one day and forced me to watch. I've seen it at Blockbuster in the foreign section.
Definitely definitely worth seeing. I don't know if you would say it "slipped under the radar" as it probably never even blipped here - but if you are looking for one that wasn't pimped watch this. To me, the subtitles didn't matter because it was so good.

An old one, The Party with Peter Sellers. I've yet to meet somebody who knows it apart from my father who introduced it. I just love that movie! And The Ref, the only christmas movie I've ever liked. Priceless.

hmm.... I am apparently officially a "Nobody"... as I have either seen or OWN the majority of the movies listed above by my fellow Nobodys.
(The Dish is cute; I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE both Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead and Equilibrium; Gods and Monsters was good, but not something I'd watch again and again; Krull was something that I certainly don't want to ever see again;and I wish I owned The Butcher Boy... excellent movie. *I like Neil Jordon. The Ref is truly funny and I bought it for Christmas presents for my entire family one year as it was only $3.50 at Target.
Which brings me to another $3.50 Target bargain.... Freeway. I love this movie and think it's hilarious. Not for everyone though.
I've never seen Smoke Signals, but the movie Smoke is awesome.

I've seen Equilibrium and I must have seen Krull a hundred times as a kid. I'm really doubtful that it would hold up to a viewing now though.
I'll add Brain Donors to the list. It's a 1992 Marx brother style comedy starring John Turturro. Very funny.

I recently saw the movie Pizza... I liked it. I hadn't heard of it. I think subliminally I was hungry... oh, and Ethan Embry is Way Hot ... and he's in it.
Speaking of Pizza....
Mystic Pizza (though I think I read that once Julia Roberts made it big, this movie saw a resurgence)... was at one time a little known gem. I still enjoy a viewing of it from time to time.

Bottle Rocket, people!
Before Rushmore, The Royal Tennenbaums, and The Life Aquatic... this was Wes Anderson's early masterpiece. See how it all began.
Watch a young Owen Wilson and a young Luke Wilson before they became the Frat Pack staples that they are now...
Sometimes dubbed "Reservoir Geeks", it's a witty take on a wannabe gang of thieves. Keep an eye on Bob, the getaway driver... he may be the funniest character in the flick.
**End of Endorsement**
"On the run from Johnny Law... It ain't no trip to Cleveland."

Oddly enough... (we talked of this before, and I'll use your term if I may)... I am a huge Fanderson.
Yet... the ONLY one of his movies that I actually own is Bottle Rocket.

Indeed, TG - we have shared our love for W.A. before... and I wonder how many lives have been touched because of our endorsements...? (Allow me to stare wistfully into the distance for a moment...)

A movie that I saw while in the UK (in 1999) and introduce it to all my friends... "Martha, Meet Frank, Daniel and Laurence" or (US title) "The Very Thought of You" (which makes no sense because neither the phrase Or the song is in the movie. But I love Joseph Fiennes and Monica Potter, and they are really cute together in this one. Total chic flick. I also like "Music From Another Room"... Jude Law= yummy. If you have cable you've probably ran across this before, but whenever I mention it to anyone, no one's heard of it. It's not great, but worth it for Jude. And Jeremy Piven is pretty funny. ("that's the retard!!")
