This was my Pop's pick, but I'll let you know what I thought of it just the same.
It was fairly funny. I laughed out loud on more than one occasion--- mainly because the 80's make me laugh. However, there is plenty of bad language and crude humor. Sometimes it was over the top for me.
This movie is not going to change your life, it's not going to make you stop and think. It's a bit hokey and definitely formulaic. Even so though, it did make me laugh from time to time.
I appreciated the $2.00 reference that was thrown in --- I assume as an homage. I do love John Cusak.
If you saw the preview and thought/groaned to yourself--- this looks stupid, then don't go see it.
If you thought it looked funny, then catch a matinee or rent it. Be warned that there is plenty of crude situations & language in this movie. I didn't really expect it from what I saw of the trailer.
If you are looking for a movie that revisits the 80s for a bit and is funny w/out being crude... I'd suggest the Zac Effron/recent version of 17 Again. I know, I thought that this movie would make me groan and roll my eyes, but it actually had me laughing out loud quite a bit.
