WOO HOO! First post!
That's one small post for Laslo, one giant leap for Laslokind...
But seriously, I have the feeling that this section will provide the kind of healing that the medical industry can only dream of. So, with that in mind, let me offer the first of what will surely be a long series of embarassing confessions.
Sleepless in Seattle. Those that know Laslo Hollyfeld know that he is pretty much all business, all the time. He is a man who looks danger square in the eye, and tweaks the nose of precariousness. He is a man who, if he ever started smoking, wouldn't remove the Marlboro from his lips to tell the State Trooper to kiss his hinders. You know, a real rough and tumble wannabe Johnny Betts type.
Does it therefore surprise you to learn that this movie makes me quite misty eyed? Yeah, I said it. The scene at the end when Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks FINALLY meet... *sniff*
So there you go. Who's steppin' up next? Do we stand together and face our fears, or do I eat this sandwich??

Okay, so what are women supposed to be embarrased about watching?

*sigh*
I actually liked The Notebook (except for the boring scenes with James Garner and Gena Rowlands).
Hey, it's Rachel McAdams' fault!
That's all I'm comfortable owning up to at the moment. One step at a time...

Okay, so what are women supposed to be embarrased about watching? Anything starring Van Damme, Adam Sandler, Ah-nuld, etc. Movies featuring wrestlers (other than The Rock) would also qualify. Wait a minute, guys should be embarrassed about those as well.

Okay....I liked Lionheart -- so that's Van Damme, and for Sandler I liked the Wedding Singer and Spanglish wasn't too bad. As for Ah-nuld, I loved Kindergarten Cop, Terminator 1 and 2, True Lies, and Red Sonja. Haven't seen The Notebook....... Um.....other wrestlers than The Rock.....nothing comes to mind...... So then what should JUST women be embarrassed about if guys should be too? You're not much help here, JB.

I don't know that one must be embarassed by liking the Terminator movies... well... at least not the first two. My wife loves both of those movies.

So then what should JUST women be embarrassed about if guys should be too? You're not much help here, JB. Rowr! Basically, anything with nary an actress or tinge of romance in sight that's saturated with wall-to-wall action and/or violence could qualify. Rambo, for example. Should a girl be embarrassed about liking it? Not really. But it's not exactly a girly movie, and the typical gal who is a sucker for chick flicks isn't going to immediately mention it when talking about her favorite movies. I'd also like to hear more girls talk about loving the Dirty Harry movies or Eastwood's Westerns. "War movies" such as Heartbreak Ridge and Commando are also some examples.

A couple of more quick examples...
I don't think I've met a single female who has owned up to liking Cobra or Over the Top, but guys, fueled by enough pizza and testosterone, can find the entertainment value there.
Come on, ladies! A man tries to mend his relationship with his son through the drama of arm wrestling? How does that not emotionally resound??

Okay, I guess it's time for me to be embarrassed -- while I like SOME chick flicks, I love action movies. I love Rambo (1 and 2 of course) and Two Mules for Sister Sarah, The Outlaw Josey Wales, and Eastwood's Man With No Name trilogy. Hated Cobra, and Over The Top wasn't that great. What else should I be embarassed about?

Well, it's been awhile, but I'm back (hold your applause ;D) - and let me be the first girl to admit that I liked Over the Top when I was a kid...
Yup. And to this day, if my sister and I ever arm wrestle for a gag, we do the whole professional arm wrestling championship prep thing - complete with Sly's finger-by-finger positioning move... with our hats turned backwards... as Robert Loggia looks on... (Wait - scratch that last one. )
I think that a guilty pleasure is a subjective term... what embarrasses one person might be completely justified to someone else...
For example, I find that I'm way more embarrassed of liking (a few) chick flicks than I am of liking "guy" movies... Die Hard happens to be one of my favorite movies - and I have pretty harsh taste with the Tarantino and Rodriguez family of films...Scorcese films too. At the risk of offending the female population, I find that not many girls are into the Monty Python, Adam Sandler (as Johnny mentioned), Chris Farley, Jackie Chan or Mel Brooks movies, either... But I love 'em, and being a fan doesn't embarrass me.
Give me those over mainstream chick flicks any day...
...Unless those mainstream chick flicks are Overboard, Ghost or A League of Their Own... Oh, the shame!

Hey, don't MESS with Overboard! That movie ROCKED.
Ghost was okay but A League of Their Own was AWESOME.
A guilty pleasure -- I LOVE Captain Ron!

Well, since Laslo ignored your request for a lack of fanfare, I'm gonna join in and bust out my cassette player and crank up my Slippery When Wet tape! Never Say Goodbye ... let your lyrics do the talkin'...
Since you brought up Chris Farley, I'm curious, are there any girls out there who liked BOTH Tommy Boy and Black Sheep? Anybody? Hello?

Oooh! To reference another post (see "Smoke Signals" thread), I should really call you guys Laslo Good-for-my-Ego and Johnny Serenades-Old-School. Thank you, thank you. It's good to be back.
Nice choice of welcome back song, JB - "Never Say Goodbye" is one of my favorites on that album... and the title of one of teenage-Nikki's concepts for a movie, starring her, Kiefer Sutherland and Fred Savage. Remind me to never tell you about it sometime!
Besides me? 'Cause I'm a fan o' both. Wow - I'm pretty cool for a girl!
**sings "Fat Guy in a Little Coat" to herself while playing checkers and NEVER MOVING HER BACK ROW**
Sorry, FM - I don't think I'd count The Wedding Singer or (especially) Spanglish as Adam Sandler movies... More like MAdam Sandler movies! ;D Get it? Madam? Girly? Ha ha. And Kindergarten Cop doesn't count as an Ah-nuld movie, does it??? Guys, help me out...
In the same way, even though I love it, I wouldn't call Overboard a Kurt Russell movie... He was in it, and made it awesome, but he won't be remembered for it. Speaking of Kurt Russell...
I still think that Captain Ron is the funniest movie title ever. I don't remember much about the movie itself...

I liked both Black Sheep and Tommy Boy - I think I liked Black Sheep more but it's been a while since I've seen them.
MAdam Sandler? HA HA HA HA HA - would you add Punch Drunk Love to that list?
As far as guilty pleasure goes I'd have to say anything with Hilary Duff. I know Cinderalla Story wasn't that great but I can't help but watch it...
