Thanks for the link Johnny. I think I was too late though. The lead is Martin Freeman who was Tim in "The Office" and he had a bit part as Yvonne's boyfriend in the doppleganger scene in "Shaun of the dead" He was also the porn actor in" Love actually". A movie I can not stand, except for the bits he was in. Good actor! Well, he was in SOTD and The Office, so it's a perfect resume so far! Yeah..?

Surely it's online somewhere else. I'll look into it. I've never read the book, so I don't know what to expect, but I know a ton of people are excited about it.

Hey I've read all the books and seen a teaser trailer and so far it looks like it'll be living up to expectations (fingers crossed). Martin Freeman is bang on as Arthur Dent so whilst everyone else is whinging about the casting of Mos Def as Ford Prefect the fact that the rest of the cast is soooo spot on gives me faith. .

Hey man, do yourself a favor and at least read the first book. It's not like reading The Brothers Karamozov, so you can blaze through it in a relativley short time. Then, keep in mind that the original incarnations of these stories were BBC radio plays that Doug Adams did back in the late 70's and early 80's. There was no attempt to adhere to a rigid back story, or even to internal consistencies. They were just making it up as they went along. When Adams wrote the books, he pointed out that the books are not the final word on the story, merely the latest. I say all that because there are so many "purists" who are griping about how this character or that character doesn't look exactly like their mental picture. I'm of the opinion that there is more than one way to tell a story, and am looking forward with great anticipation for this flick...

Me too LH!
JB, if you don't read the books I will whack you over the head with my copy (and I have all four or five in one large leatherbound version, so it WILL hurt!).
I'll even send you my copy if you want (as long as you promise to send it back!)

So, I FINALLY saw a real trailer for this movie tonight!! If you haven't read the books, it was funny enough to get you interested in the movie. If you have read the books, it was brilliant:)
Which reminds me, JB, your posters and the book went out priority mail yesterday, so you should have them Saturday or Monday:) Get reading - you have until April 29 to finish the first volume!

Wow, I wasn't expecting you send the book, but I did indeed get everything! Thank you very much, that was quite generous of you. The Batman poster is especially cool. So I assume that by "first volume" you mean the first 143 pages and not all 600+ pages? Am I correct in also assuming that "The Restaurant at the End of the World" is Volume 2, etc? If so, then no problem. I read the 1st 40 pages today, aren't you proud of me? So I'll definitely finish it before seeing the movie, and I promise to read the rest after that.

I saw this movie on a recent trip home to Houston. I am so glad my brother shelled out his hard-earned dollars for this one and not me. I never read the book, but he had (and he didn't particularly care for it), but both of us hated the movie. For us it was boring and unfunny and pointless. The kids in the theater seemed to be amused by it though.
After it was over, my bro turned to me and said, "So, do you wanna go see a movie?" I think that sums it up nicely. Sorry, Ms. Cali.

Seriously, if he didn't like the book, there's no way he'd like the movie. The book is just as silly and goofy as the movie (which is probably why I loved it...it's light reading, which is what I want sometimes).
But Steph, you should try reading the books:)
