He is sitting right behind Jack Nicholson (who is in the front row beside Javier Bardem. Since the Oscars is fond of showing Jack on camera, hopefully that means we will get to see lots of Josh.
And it looked like he was making fun of Regis. If I wasn't a fan before, I would be after that (the WORST red carpet host ever, and that is saying a lot since everyone on ABC was awful this year).
Josh looks much better here than he did at the SAG awards. I still wish he would button his jacket, but i can live with it.
Oh, and Regis? It's Javier not Xavier. Get it right. (Oh, who am I kidding...Regis is a huge idiot).

Seriously, Regis, it's JAVIER
Josh did great presenting. He offered to buy Jack a beer!

And...he listened to me and buttoned the jacket before presenting. Way to go Josh. (You know, it was totally because I told him to. He had to have checked this board before going onstage you know).
He is right though...that was the worst impression of Jack Nicholson I've ever heard. He didn't put much emotion into any of the other lines either. Come on Josh - We're gonna need a bigger boat is one of the best lines ever!

Ah, Josh did look great! And we kept getting glimpses of him all night long...sigh. Did anyone else notice that when he handed the Oscar over to one of the Coen Bros. he knelt before him and presented it to him as if to say "I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy"(Ok, I have Wayne and Garth in my head now). I thought the gesture was cute and in keeping with the easy going nature of Josh and everyone else on the set of NCFOM. And yeah, the movie won best picture! However, I am tired of the endless remarks about Javier's hair in the movie. It was the 70's people, c'mon, it was in style then. I can't believe they paired up Josh with James McAvoy though! Ugh. I can't stand that man ever since seeing Becoming Jane. He was such an a** in that movie that I'm afraid I can't separate his character from him as a person. Although I did like his character in the Chronicles of Narnia...

So, here's my Oscar wrap up. The awards were okay - no major disappointments there; I was happy every time No Country won, and disappointed every time it didn't, but whenever it was beaten, it was beaten by a worthy candidate IMO. I could have done without the writing win for Juno, as I think that was the weakest part of that film, but I haven't seen any of the other nominees, and none of them sound like they were any better written (and if I had to hear Brad Bird give another speech, I may have poked my eyes out. That man is the most boring speaker I have ever heard). I liked Jon Stewart as the host - there were some weak moments, but I think he did a good job for only having a week to prepare. I liked all the looks back at past Oscars (I'm a sucker for that kind of thing...my favorite part of every awards ceremony is the In Memoriam...I just like the retrospectives), and he had some really funny jokes. Of course, he also recycled a joke that was already used...ten years ago in She's All That (yes, we know Harrison Ford sounds like it could be a car dealership. You really don't need to point it out Jon).
So, my wrap up will be all about the really important stuff...the fashion.
All the guys looked great. At least, as much as I paid attention (okay, not very much). Javier Bardem is HOT! I never really noticed it before.
But the women...yikes! There were only two really standout beautiful looks among them. My favorite was Helen Mirren. That woman is always impeccably dressed. Her gown was beautiful - age appropriate without being dowdy, classic with just enough sparkle to add interest. I also loved Kristin Chenowith's dress (the red carpet dress, not the one she wore to sing).
Some that were pretty but not spectacular - Katherine Heigel, Ellen Page, Jessica Alba (even though I HATE purple with a passion), Jennifer Garner, Amy Ryan (I loved the color and simplicity of her dress), and Mylie Cyrus.
The hideous - Jennifer Hudson (girl, white and rusching are NOT a good idea when you already have a big bosom...adding a tight tight belt right below the bosom - and the same fabric as trim at top - only served to make them look even bigger), Cameron Diaz (what was up with the pleating at the hips? It made her hips look ginormous! And that hair!!!! It was so messy and just awful). Diablo Cody? Former exotic dancer? Former? Really? Because you look like you were heading straight to the strip club after the show in that get up. Oh, and Ruby Dee...I loved you in American Gangster, and the cut of your dress was gorgeous, as was the color. But get your assistant to steam it before you put it on! Nobody wants to show up on the red carpet covered in wrinkles. Heidi Klum looked horrible too. Project Runway is my favorite show right now, but ther are so many times I can't imagine why they let her be a judge. Her fashion sense is not usually the greatest.
I am torn on Anne Hathaway's dress. It really was very pretty, and it looked fantastic on her, but I am SO sick of the drapy dress look because of Rami on Project Runway that I just can't help but hate it. The color was amazing on her though.
The absolute worst look of the night was Tilda Swinton. Not only did one half of her dress look like a sack, but the other half was too big and wrinkly too. Even if it wasn't a completely ugly design, the fit would have killed it. It was just absolutely the worst thing I have seen on the red carpet in years. And the hair! Ooooooh, the hair was just a mess. Ugly style, ugly cut, ugly color. The overall look was just a complete mess.

I agree about Helen Mirren's dress...it was my fav, too. Simple yet elegant. I couldn't stand Cameron Diaz's dress because the back of it just gave the illusion that her whole butt was sagging down to the back of her knees. Yuck. Marion Cotillard (the French chick), I thought her dress was extremely reminiscent of a mermaid with all the scales and the way it was cut. Not saying it was bad...just that she looked like a mermaid. I also agree with Ms. Cali's assessment of Jennifer Hudson's dress. It looked like she had a giant odd shaped watermelon sitting on her chest. Too weird. But the one that really stood out as bad for me was Daniel Day-Lewis' wife, Rebecca Miller. Those red bows on the shoulders holding the dress up and the weird looking black flowers(?) on the front - what's up with that? I also didn't particularly care for Jessica Alba and Penelope Cruz's feathers. I thought they were just a little over the top. And speaking of over the top, I think Nicole Kidman would have looked better with just the one smaller strand of diamonds instead of adding 2 more larger strands. Just a little too much. Sometimes simpler is better. On another note...back to Javier - how cute was it that he spoke to his mom in Spanish in his acceptance speech and then later when they showed him back in the audience she's holding his Oscar for him and he leans over and kisses her. He's so sweet. You can really tell he loves his mom. To me, that speaks volumes about a person.

I didn't see Daniel Day-Louis' wife, or at least, I didn't notice her dress, but shoulder bows are never a good thing. I didn't mind the feathers on Jessica Alba or Penelope Cruz as much - for Jessica I think they did a good job drawing the eye up, which is what you want when you are pregnant and wearing a red carpet gown, I think. Plus, the rest of her dress was simple enough to allow for them...Penelope on the other hand had a lot going on with that dress and could have done without the feathers.
Nicole Kidman's diamonds were for the same purpose as Jessica Alba's feathers - draw the eye up (I think she's almost as far along as I am, so she is starting to show, but you couldn't even tell at all in that dress because your eye just couldn't get away from the necklace). I thought it was hanging funny on her though...that longest strand was just a bit too long.
Oh, another big miss was George Clooney's girlfriend. Between that ugly print, and the too low bustline, and those weird panels on the side, she was just a mess. Her hair was pretty though.
I liked Marion Cotillard's dress...I don't think everyone could have pulled it off but she looked good. It wasn't one of my favorites, but I didn't hate it. And that girl is GORGEOUS. Her acceptance speech was great.
Shiner, you are an idiot. I think the only 75 year old we complimented was Helen Mirren. Many of the other "hot girls" wore beautiful dresses (and I'm pretty sure we complimented them too), but bad taste is bad taste, no matter how old/young you are (and s-l-u-t-t-y does not equal hot. You might understand that one day if you ever mature past the 14-year-old brain you seem to have. I have my doubts as to whether that will happen though).

This is the first year that I got all but one of my guesses wrong. I really wanted Juno to win all 4 of it's awards, but I'm content with best original screenplay. And I'm glad "There Will Be Blood" didn't get best picture. It seems like the only reason that one was made was to garner Oscars. No Country suprised me. I didn't expect it to win. Then again, I didn't see it, and it might very will be the best movie of the year. I'll find out next month when it comes out on DVD.

No Country was definitely the best movie of the year (Juno was my favorite, because it was happier and more enjoyable, but from a writing, directing, acting, all-around viewpoint, No Country was far superior).
I missed the two actress Oscars. I thought either Amy Ryan or Cate Blanchette would win for supporting actress, and for best actress it would either be Julie Christie or Cate Blanchette, wtih Marian Cotillard a strong possibility. But when Blanchette did not win supporting actress, I figured she would definitely win for best actress. I didn't see any of the nominated movies, except Juno, though, so my guesses were only based on what has been happening so far in the awards season and all the buzz.

Oh, I meant to mention - the more I see Daniel Day-Lewis' tux in pictures, the more I hate it. What is up with that weird piping around the collar? The color is just ugly. It would have been a great touch if it were black.

My favorite moment from last night was Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova winning Best Song for "Falling Slowly." The movie is one of my favorite films of 2007, and it shows that filmmakers do not have to have a big budget to make a great movie, just a lot of passion. The scene in which Hansard and Irglova sing "Falling Slowly" was, in my opinion, the best scene out of any film in 2007.
I, like Johnny, was ecstatic when they invited Marketa Irglova back out to give her speech. She gave the most inspirational speech of the night with her closing statement, especially for someone like me who is an aspiring filmmaker.
Two other speeches that I enjoyed were Tilda Swinton's (even though she was hideous) and Marion Cotillard. Swinton was very funny; it was a well-delivered speech. I also was moved by Cotillard's glee and speechlessness. She deserved the award even though I didn't care for the movie.

I agree completely. I was so glad Jon Stewart brought Marketa Irglova back out to do her speech - and it was definitely worth it! What a great speech that was!
Marion Cotillard was great in her speech too. She was just so happy to win, and really gracious about it too. I couldn't get past Tilda Swinton's awfulness to appreciate her speech though (the big about George Clooney wearing his Batman costume under his wardrobe on set was funny...the part about her manager and the oscar looking alike was just stupid...especially since they showed him later and he doesn't look like the statue at all!)
Oh, what was with Harrison Ford's blue hair? It looks like he was going for a nice silvery gray but ended up with too much blue instead. Maybe it was just the lighting, but it looked BAD. Actually, with his skin tone, he should go back to brown and just skip the gray completely (and I really like gray hair on men generally).

I must have missed the part when they showed Swinton's manager. I thought it was a funny comment though. I liked her speech more than just the endless, typical "Thank yous."
I also wish they would have given Amy Adams more to do when she was performing "Happy Working Song." She gave a good performance, but it was just awkward watching her up there alone while everyone else this elaborate crew (I personally would have also liked to have seen Adams nominated for her work in "Enchanted." I believe she nailed all the aspects of a Disney princess perfectly.).

Couldn't be bothered watching this year, though had seen quite a few of the films. I FF'd to the Josh/No Country parts and anyone who looked interesting.
Didn't see Brad Renfro in the memorial. Not a huge fan but Apt Pupil, The Client, Ghostworld, Sleepers etc. isn't unmontage-worthy and didn't Roy Scheider just die? Do you have to be an Oscar nominee to get shot? Josh uttered a line from Jaws too.
On another note, I love it how the applause gets louder for certain people who have died- sometimes for no apparent reason. Oh, she's Asian *clap*clap*clap*
Was a shame to see Ledger. He was sitting in that room just a year ago. Wonder whose turn it will be next year.
