Sorry to confuse u Some movies on that list I wouldn't even class as comedies! Just a drama/musical/thriller that happened to have a couple of funny moments. Love Victor/Victoria, Blazing Saddles, Singin' in the Rain, This is Spinal Tap. Whcomedy, or am I misreading this? 'Cause if that is the insinuation... well, them's fightin' words! oa, there! are you suggesting that Spinal Tap isn't a

What I don't understand is why in a comedy top 100 of all time there is NOT EVEN ONE Pink Panter movie in there. Personally I think Peter Sellers is the greatest comedian ever (but hey, that's me) and to only find Dr. Strangelove and... here it comes... Being There on that list is remarkable. Being There is everything BUT a comedy... And where is The Party? Where's Ace Ventura? And why is Airplane! on the 10th place, above A Fish Called Wanda? Crackers. Do know who puts these lists together but I suggest they stop it and let Johnny do it.

The Pink Panther was definetley missing. And I disagree with you i think both Airplane! and A fish Called Wanda were in their proper places.

See, this is the basic problem with AFI's whole premise--the subjective nature of comedy makes lists like these argument starters more than anything. My personal hundred funniest films would be a lot different than the one they came up with. It's safe to say that every person around here would also have a vastly different list than mine.
The same holds true for every list the AFI puts out--as evidenced by the discussions we have on this board!
Okay, I feel better now.

Good Morning Vietnam funnier than A Night at the Opera? I think not.
Some Like It Hot is one of the all time great films, but not tops on the comedy list IMHO.

Some Like it Hot has some really funny parts. It also has parts that make me roll my eyes in annoyance. It's about as funny as The Glass Bottom Boat (IMHO, the funniest and best of all the Doris Day movies). It's cute, and funny, but it's a certain genre of funny.
And I don't remember...was High Anxiety on this list? It really should be - it's one of the funnier movies I've seen. "Those who are late do not get fruit cup."

'The Graduate' a comedy? I was bored out of my mind... and I think I'm missing something with 'Annie Hall'... not only did I not find it funny, but it's one of my most overrated films ever.

'The Graduate' a comedy? I was bored out of my mind... and I think I'm missing something with 'Annie Hall'... not only did I not find it funny, but it's one of my most overrated films ever. With these remarks the whole point becomes clear: you can't make a 100 funniest movies list! Peoples taste of what's funny and not are so different that it is impossible to get 100 movies in one list that everybody thought was funny too. I saw The Graduate aswell, and I don't even remember what it was about, that's how much it impressed me... A lot of the movies in this list I haven't even seen, a lot I thought was just as funny as redecorating my house and the movies I really thought were funny as hell are not on the list or are placed way back into the rating. This is just the 100 funniest movies according to the group of guys who made this list at AFI. (probably why it's called that way... )
