Yo folks, just recently watched the Cutting Edge:Going For the Gold. Ladies will probably enjoy watching Ross Thomas as a sexy xgames turned figure skater Alex Harrison. Gents will probably be eyeing the few girls in bikinis and laughing at the skating falls. Lots of those going on. If you liked the first Cutting Edge movie, you may actually like this one although the skating's a bit different. The female lead...ehhh... but the guy's the one to watch. =) Nobody from the original cast is in it, but hey.. so what. It did NOT suck. At least, I didn't feel ripped off after having watched it for free.

Was "The Cutting Edge" the ice-skating movie with Moira Kelly and DB Sweeney? Surely they would have been available for the sequel ;D.
I'm pretty sure that movie had a different title in Australia. I want to say it was bad but it's such a chick flick, I can't help but like it. A sort of Dirty Dancing on ice.
I'm not sure who Ross Thomas is but I'll take your word for it and hire it if I see it (depite the fact that I normally avoid any movie which has a colon in the title).

I'll give you a couple of sequels that not only did not suck, but could (in some cases) be argued they were better than the originals:
The Road Warrior. WAY better than the first Mad Max and Beyond Thunderdome combined.
Aliens. They should have stopped after this one.
Rocky II. I really just think of this and the first one as one movie. Again, this is where they should have stopped.
Toy Story 2. As much as I liked the first one, I liked the second one better.

Mr. Shade and I were at the video store on Saturday and I saw Cutting Edge: Going For the Gold sitting there on the "New Release" shelf. I picked it up, showed it to Mr. Shade, and commented, "If any movie didn't call for a sequel..."
And I'm like Australian Ann, what's up with not being able to reign in Moira Kelly and D.B. Sweeney? Were they requesting too many hot meals as payment?
Good list, Laslo.

Um, Moira Kelly is too busy being in One Tree Hill. Though why they couldn't get D.B. Sweeney is beyond me. Also, this was a made for tv sequel (for ABC Family).
I love The Cutting Edge, but a sequel? I was shocked (and appalled) when I first saw the commercial for it. But I do want to see it:)
Um, Ocean's 12 was a good sequel. Back to the Future 3 is my favorite in the series (um...yeah, I know) The 3rd Indiana Jones is the best as well

I'd wager not for long ;D I heard DB Sweeney was in a TV show or movie or something but couldn't access his page on IMDb due to heavy traffic. I liked Lethal Weapon 2 and Young Guns 2 and, natch, the Anne of Green Gables sequel. Nod to Aliens but agree they should have stopped there. I'm trying to wrack my brains for a sequel that was released a few years back, and popular, even though the first one was largely unknown. Will edit this post when I think of it.

Desperado. Perfect example.
I loved it. And I loved the first one, El Mariachi, when I tracked it down too. They remain high up on my "Favorite Movies" list.
I agree about Young Guns II. That's one that I can still watch and happily coast along on the nostalgia alone...

Naturally, I would add The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, but I don't know if they count since that was a planned trilogy all along. Same with Clint Eastwood's Spaghetti Western trilogy.
I love all of the Dirty Harry movies. The 2nd and 3rd installments of A Nightmare on Elm Street were actually pretty decent.
I thought The Bourne Supremacy was better than its predecessor The Bourne Identity. I also thought X2 was better than the original.

Oh, I agree about X2 and The Bourne Supremacy. X1 was okay, but not fantastic. I hated The Bourne Identity. Ann, hopefully she won't be on One Tree Hill for long! But Veronica Mars is in danger still Smallville is also in danger, but for different reasons (DC lost the rights to Superboy, who was originally Clark Kent before he was Superman). Shows I'm hoping continue on the CW Veronia Mars Gilmore Girls Shows I'm hoping get picked up: Palm Springs (I've heard good things about the script so far, and boss' hubby is in it, so we'd really like for it to get picked up). The rest of the WB/UPN I really don't care about. I can't think of anything else I watch on that channel regularly.

The rest of the WB/UPN I really don't care about. I can't think of anything else I watch on that channel regularly. I really hope Supernatural gets picked up. It's extremely entertaining, though someone who scares easily like Ms. Cali might not be able to take it in large doses. I'd be extremely shocked if Smallville didn't get picked up. Besides 7th Gayven, it's the highest-rated show on the WB. But if it's a copyright issue then I have no idea what all will be required to keep it. Palm Springs, huh? Well, at least the CW will be going for originality on that one What's next, Hilton Head? Gulf Shores? I'm personally holding out hope for Mud Island. You know I'm playin'. Though there is some underlining truth to my indictment of shows that insist on naming themselves after resort cities.

Hey, maybe CBS should partner with one of these smaller networks and farm out yet another CSI franchise.
CSI:Carmel-By-The-Sea CSI:Myrtle Beach CSI:The Hamptons
The real trick, though, is to get someone as dynamic and exciting as David Caruso. Maybe someone like Martin Landau's corpse.

According to Mr. C, both Smallville and Veronica Mars are unofficially being mentioned as coming back next season. Officially, we'll find out when the fall schedules are released later this month.
I like Supernatural too (though, I had issues with the first few episodes, I was finally able to get over them and watch the show). It's just on during other things we watch, and I never get to see it anymore.

As long as the corpse can be propped up so that its hands are on its hips then just put some sunglasses on it and it's good to go. Then you could have the corpse spit out all kinds of cool one-liners and zingers right before commercial break: Generic cop: Well, it looks like this victim is dead. Landau's corpse: I know how it feels. CUE THEME SONG FROM THE WHO Or here's another idea... Pretty boy forensics guy: What can you tell us about the club where the victim was found? Was it popular? Landau's corpse: Just like they said about the cemetary I was buried in - people are dying to get in. THEME SONG

I'm still waiting for a scene from CSI:NY where Gary Sinese yells, "Stella!!!!"
(Melena Kanakarades character is named Stella...I almost thought they were going to do it a couple weeks ago, as the main storyline centered around her, but they didn't.)

Good call; they blew a perfect opportunity. Perhaps Gary Sinise has a stipulation in his contract where he refuses to do it. David Caruso would've insisted on doing it in the very first episode.
