Jello Pudding (yuuuuum) is better than Black Tie Mousse Cake (yuck) anyday. That is all.

Now I LOVE some 'Nilla puddin', but recently my family and I were at a moderately high end restaurant in the Myrtle Beach area, and my sister and I splurged and decided to share some creme brulee. (mmm... my favorite, w/ fresh berries). And when they brought the dessert out, would you believe that it was just vanilla pudding w/ some brown sugar on top that they were trying to pass off as creme brulee. Shameless!
smile. I don't know anything about tuxedo cake or whatever, but I'm assuming that the analogy would apply to my creme brulee incident. smile.
Hey... what ever happened to jello pudding pops? Do they still make those?? lol/smile. I liked those as a kid. smile.

TG, I was JUST trying to find pudding pops the other day. They have been off the market for years - it looks like they came back briefly in 2004 under the Popcicle brand, but you can't find them on the Popcicle website anymore, so I think they have been pulled from market again. I did find some recipes for them, so I am going to try them soon (maybe this weekend...I want to make them for a party I am going to next weekend, so I need to test them first). Oh, and if you like creme brulee (yuuuuuuuuuuuuuum), you should try panacotta (even more yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuum). It's like a creme brulee/custard but made without eggs (and no baking). It's really easy to make at home too (foodnetwork.com has some good recipes).

Just an FYI - I was in my local Wal-Mart last week (not a superstore) that has a small grocery section and noticed that they had pudding pops for sale. Don't know if the ones in your area may carry them, but I thought I'd let you know just in case they do. Hope everybody had a great Fourth!

smile... thanks for the heads up. The Wal-Mart near where I live isn't safe, so I never go there. I do appreciate you letting me know.
What I really would like to find are Zots ? I was at a mall recently that had this candy store (Dylan's Candy Store?) that is supposed to have the largest array of candy old and new. I did see lots of candies that made me feel nostalgic, but no zots. They were a hard candy that had fizzy stuff in the middle.
I used to love them. I wonder if I ever could manage to find some, if I would still like them.
Oh and while I'm on the topic of candy. I ran in to the Race Track on the way to school today to get some coffee (actually Chai, today, but anyway...) and saw the oddest thing. Chocolate flavored Skittles. Why??? Skittles are fine when you are in the mood to taste the rainbow or whatever, but if you want chocolate... why not buy actual chocolate? Strange.
Better than creme brulee??? hmm... I don't know about that, but I am more than willing to find out. smile. ;D I'll have to check that out. I thank you, even if my hips don't.

I haven't been able to bring myself to try chocolate flavored Skittles...they just don't seem right.
So, to make pudding pops, just make the pudding according to the package directions, pour into popcicle molds, and freeze. They were actually really good.

I noticed that your member info mentions you traded snow for hurricanes, so I don't know if you live in a resort area like I do (we are also hurricane prone), but it's a shame it's not safe to shop at your Wal-Mart. Even though ours is not a superstore, I have found that several things I normally buy at the grocery store are cheaper at Wal-Mart. As for the chocolate skittles - I agree, I'd rather get a candy bar if I have a chocolate craving (which is quite often)!

Wal-Mart is evil. I'd rather pay more than shop there (I used to work for them, I speak from experience). Of course, the closest one to me is at least 30 mins away, so I don't really have to make the choice, thankfully (I prefer Target, but our Kmart was remodeled a couple years ago and is pretty nice now...it used to be a dump. And with the club cards at my grocery store, the prices are usually really good. I should be shopping at my local farmer's market for produce, but I can never seem to get out of the house before noon on Saturdays, so I never make it before they close). My mom's town only has Wal-Mart and I hate that when I visit her. I believe the town where I grew up (about 30 mins away) is getting a Target though, so it will be worth the drive once they do.

Ah... and see... I used to LOVE Target... until I worked there. On the bright side, I've saved tons and tons of money. I used to jokingly say that Target was evil because I'd walk in for just a couple things and would walk out spending at least $100 each time. I once made an impulse buy of a vacuum cleaner, a tea pot, and an immersion blender while at Target.
But I agree... given the choice... Target wins hands down. If you can brave being inside Walmart (and every now and again there is a nice one), then you'll save more money than if you go to Target.

I've heard some really good things about Target from people who have worked there...but every company has it's issues I think.
The stories you hear about Wal-Mart and how they treat their employees really are true - I was only there for 5 months, thank goodness, but I still count it as the most horrible job I have ever had.
I won't shop at Wal-Mart unless I absolutely have to, because I don't want to give them any of my money if I can help it. I haven't really compared prices too much, but I like Target's quality much, much better...especially on clothes (Target is my new favorite place to shop these days. The maternity section at the one closest to me is awesome).
I am a clothing snob though, and am much more willing to pay for quality (when I'm not pregnant, I shop the Macy's sale racks...they tend to have really great sales, and you can get some really good quality clothing). I think that comes from being a knitter and sewing all my life - I recognize good quality fabric & construction when I see it, and can't settle for less (it doesn't have to be expensive, but it needs to be natural fabrics and well constructed usually).

I know what you mean about how Wal-Mart treats their employees. My mother-in-law worked at ours for about three years.
Unfortunately, because I live in a resort area I'm stuck with Wal-Mart and K-Mart, Wal-Mart being the cheaper of the two. The closest Target is about an hour away. Also, everything is more expensive in a resort area than anywhere else. The stores charge what they want during the summer because they know the tourists will pay for it, but they forget about us poor locals. Oh well, the higher prices and the summer traffic are the only downsides to living here (oh and the occasional hurricane). Otherwise it's great!

UGH - I would hate if I only had Wal-Mart & Kmart to choose from.
Kmart has gotten better since Sears bought them (or they bought Sears or whatever) - at least, all their stores around here that I've been to have. They used to be complete dumps, and have really remodeled, cleaned up, and improved their inventory the past few years.
And with the price of everything going up these days, sometimes you just have to shop at whatever is cheapest, or what is there. (It's why, as much as I hate Wal-Mart, I don't feel guilty about shopping there when I visit my mom...it's all there is).

What is Wal-Mart's stance on child labor, again?
Last I heard they got rated a C- or something by some company who did a study.

I am by no means an expert on Target. I only worked at one and not for a very long time. It might have been a poorly run Target or something. I will say that it is the only job that I ever quit in my life. I did only had 3 days left anyway... it was seasonal, but I still got all my shifts covered. (Even at my most irate... I could never do something that would make my fellow co-workers' lives harder than necessary. I'm not that person.)
smile.
