um... so I caught up on most of the show before watching the results show.... I still think that Jordin is a cute as a button and I like her voice. How Sanjaya has escaped the axe thus far is beyond me. I wish a Giant hook would pull him off stage--- Muppet Show style. There's an idea for some guest judges... Waldorf and .... Statler? I wasn't a big fan of the Beyonce-like Stephanie, but let's be serious.... Sanjaya didn't even make the bottom two? How did that happen???

Sanjaya didn't even make the bottom two? How did that happen??? Because all the other twelve year old girls who were home crying that THEY didn't get to be gratuitously and strategically planted in the audience by the show's producers do the voting. They think this little Muppet (thanks for the image, tangentgirl) is cute, and that's why they vote for him. Let's face it: the vast majority of the people who will go out and buy an American Idol winner's music aren't very discerning.

Hmmm.... I have to say that I'm enjoying the show a bit more now. I think some of the people are stepping up their games.
I do still find it a shame that some people still remain because they are "hot" or have a huge family???/ people think it's funny to keep around the worst person???----
I'm gonna quit griping about it. It's obvious though that some people have already been sent home who were far more deserving (if basing the competition on talent anyway) than some of the folks who keep hanging on week after week.
Oh... and how about some of the "celebrities" sounding less than stellar as well. I'd like to hear Simon's review of a few of the "Guest" performances.

I do still find it a shame that some people still remain because they are "hot" or have a huge family???/ people think it's funny to keep around the worst person???---- It doesn't really bother me because it annoys me that American Idol has had a major tendency to make mediocre talents extremely famous, while really talented musicians such as Todd Snider and Roger Clyne linger in relative obscurity. Come on, does anybody really think Justin Guarini, Fantasia, Diana DeGarmo (sp?), etc. are all that talented? Play an instrument, learn to write songs. These folks aren't true musicians. Recently, there has been some change in that I think Bo Bice, Chris Daughtry, and Taylor Hicks are all actually talented and were fortunate enough to use Idol as a showcase. I don't care for any of the singers this year, therefore, the only thing I care to see on my TV are Haley's smile and legs. I fast forward through most everybody's singing just like I'd turn the radio if any of these boring songs came on. Overall, Idol is a forum for average to above-average singers who, for the most part, haven't had to achieve success the hard way. They're getting the Britney Spears route to stardom.

You know that smirk we've talked about on the Lost thread that The Others have? Well, Chris Richardson has that exact same cocky smirk, and I'd love to get in the ring, throw on the boxing gloves, and legally punch him in the face for it.
He couldn't have looked like a bigger idiot when he tried to defend his nasally voice to Simon. "Nasally is a type of singing. I don't know if you knew that or not."
Ugh. Yeah, it's A BAD TYPE OF SINGING YOU JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE WANNABE DOUCHE BAG!
I've loathed this guy since Day 1, so I'm glad he finally snapped and showed America what a major tool he is. Lakisha's probably in major danger, but I hope JT Clone is gone.

I have to agree with Simon's comment that the audience must not be hearing the performance. Most of tonight's songs sounded like a try out for a rural west tennessee high school musical (imagery would not be nearly so delightful were it not for the "country" theme). Watching Lakiesha sing is like watching someone rehab an injury on a treadmill, the motions are awkward to look at and aren't going anywhere. Unfortunately Sanjaya is proof that you can convince people to like you with your charisma. Fortunately the charisma begins to tarnish (a la Britney Spears, Rosie O'Donnell). Chirs..."The word I'm searching for, I can't say, because there's preschool toys present." These are the only ones I really saw, but I'm sure Melinda did really well in an adult contemporary kind of way. Jordin was good enough she should win and Phil Stacey is best of the guys.

I didn't see Phil's performance last night.... I like Blake for the guys; last night's wasn't perfect or even close to it, but I'd let him through to next week. I actually liked Lakisha's okay until the chorus/hook/ whatever... then it was awful.
I liked Melinda and I liked Jordin (I still think she's cute as a button). I had to disagree with Simon (which doesn't actually happen that often) when he said it was the FIRST time he could see her winning the thing... perhaps I'm more perceptive than him. I've thought her capable of it from much earlier on than now. Sanjaya may be a sweet kid, but the fact is that there have been far more deserving people who have gone home that didn't deserve the pass if you're going by talent irritates the #@!% out of me. As for charisma.... charisma is nice, I suppose.. but don't be duped --- Hitler and David Koresh were both charismatic.
*Please note--- before I get hate mail, I'm not likening sweet, crazy-haired Sanjaya to mass murders or cult leaders... (however, I don't think I'd drink Kool-aid if he offered it to me).... I'm merely pointing out that "charisma" isn't necessarily a good thing. It also reminds me that I haven't played Morrowind in awhile.
What was I saying... that if that little Muppet (thanks Laszlo), who can't project to save his life apparently), makes it all the way til the end... I may take it as a sign that the end of days are near. I may have to change my stance on accepting & drinking the Kool-Aid.

I figured correctly... on who they were (or weren't, as the case were) sending home.
Especially once the bottom two were announced.
Having said that... based solely on performance... I'd send Lakisha home. I actually like everyone who is left.
