I just got my DVDs! Whooooo:) Watching them right now. It's soooooooooo nice to see the show without fuzz and lines all over it! So, run down - it's a 5 disk set: Disk 1 actually has a really good picture of Jimmy on it. Disk 2 is Kid, Disk 3 is Cody, and Disk 4 is a BAD picture of Buck. Disk 5 is a picture of Lou that is totally from season 3 (I believe it's from The Blood of Others). I think the Jimmy pic might be season 2, and I know the Buck one is either 2 or 3 (his hair is too long to be 1). The Cody and Kid pics are definitely from season 1. Yeah, I'm paying waaaaaaay too close attention, aren't I? I'm avoiding getting back to work (working from home today).

No, no you're not. I appreciate the details. Just ordered 'em from Amazon. They might take a while to arrive.

the picture of Cody is HORRIBLE. They MUST have digitally crookedized his mouth.
Then again, these are the details I notice when I have the DVDs but no DVD player.

Hey, folks - I'm new to the forum, but not to TYR - or Johnny's hilarious Rider Reviews. (Rock on, Mr. Betts!) It's about time the DVD came out... my old vhs tapes deserve a break. I haven't watched any yet - but I'm psyched to watch "Bulldog", my all-time favorite episode, and the first one I taped. (Caught the rest on reruns that year.) I knew that episode word for word. I could probably still hum the music from it, too... yikes. I echo the expressed sentiments on the DVD pics. But where's Ike? It's not fair - do they have something against scarlet fever survivors or somethin'? They could have squeezed him on with Buck... I mean, every other rider was featured... Oh, well - I'm just happy to own Season 1 of my Number 1 "comfort" show. Enjoy it, everyone! P.S. I'm a Jimmy girl all the way - I used to torment my little sister for liking the Kid. (Still do sometimes...)

Hey, folks - I'm new to the forum, but not to TYR - or Johnny's hilarious Rider Reviews. (Rock on, Mr. Betts!) I need to rock on with a new Rider Review! Stay tuned, the new one is coming in honor of this momentous DVD release. I echo the expressed sentiments on the DVD pics. My biggest gripe, and Rhi first brought this to my attention, is simple typos like using "hung" instead of "hanged" in the episode descriptions. And the worst offense is the episode description for "The Kid" which refers to the show being in the Dakota Territory. Oh, and if you have never seen the show and decide to be smart and buy the DVD set then I highly recommend that you do NOT read the episode descriptions before watching the episodes. They contain major spoilers. P.S. I'm a Jimmy girl all the way - I used to torment my little sister for liking the Kid. (Still do sometimes...) Listen up, folks because Nikki is clearly a genius. Welcome to the board, it's always good to have extremely intelligent (AKA Jimmy fans) folks around.

Wow - "THE" Johnny Betts replied to my post! And called me a genius! To quote a line from my aforementioned favorite episode, "I am TRU-ly touched." Did I mention that I have a "Jimmy" 5x7 that was signed by Mr. Brolin, circa 1989? Oh yeah. It was a product of my crush-induced fan letter to him when I was 11 years old. (I wish that I had kept a copy of that letter – I can only imagine how very articulate and sophisticated it must have been! ) So, a couple of weeks after sending it, along with letters to a few of the others, I got an envelope from (…DUHN DUHN DUHN… - sorry, couldn't resist.) Hollywood, CA (!). In it was a signed black-and-white photo of Josh – in full Jimmy get-up! It was fate, I tell ya, 'cause I didn't get a picture from any of the others. So, that solidified it - I was a life-long Jimmy Girl from that very moment. And he only continued to inspire my undying loyalty with every show. I still have that photo, too. Whenever I come across it, it makes me smile.

Whee! Hi gang. I haven't been around in. . . oh, years I guess, but I'm still a TYR-lover, and since I'm too tight-fisted to buy the DVDs myself, my mother says she'll get the set for me for Easter. Isn't that sad, I celebrate Jesus's resurrection with a T.V. show. Anyway. YAYAYAY! I just hope they offer the other seasons too--with out-takes, dang it !!! Sunny

I got mine delivered to my office yesterday! uberw00t!
Turns out there are a couple of guys in my office in their late 30's who actually HAVE heard of the show... Go fig!!
Mr G's only too happy to have me own this set. If they're true to the uncut abc eps, I can get rid of my videos FINALLY!

Hee hee Beth! That's what Mr. Cali told me too. "So, now that you have the DVDs, you can get rid of all those old video tapes, huh? They take up way too much room."
My reply? "Well, not yet. Let's wait for seasons 2 & 3 to come out first - then I can throw them all out at once."
I have a sentimental attachment to those videos! There were some great commercials on back then! LOL:)

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! Tuesday was the best day EVER! Not only did I get my DVD set, the pictures on the DVD's themselves made me laugh so long and hard, it brightened the whole rest of the night. Sorry Kid fans, but I think that DVD portrait has to be more gay than the yellow sweater picture. (see The Doorless Stall's 'Rider Beat' for reference). It still makes me giggle to remember it. (How, HOW is Kid young enough to earn himself the name of Kid? HOW? Lookit all the lines on his face!!!!!) And I too was disappointed that Ike didn't get his share. I'd rather have a picture of him than Buck. I watched 4 episodes that night, and am planning on watching another disc tonight. Yippeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And, I'm sorry - but his teeth were WAY too white for the Old West. Not just in the DVD picture, but throughout the series.
He could find a toothbrush, but not a comb?
I don't get it. (shakes head)

You're right. Jimmy was MUCH more realistically portrayed, with his dirty, greasy hair and never taking a bath. Who needs realism, when you could have KID!

Ooooh... Them's fightin' words, MsCali...
I didn't realize that you were an advocate for people with bushy eyebrows, messy hair, and questionable talent. I'll remember that if my Uncle Irving ever needs someone to stick up for him...
In order to further defend the coolness of my favorite Rider, I submit the lyrics from Green Day's "St. Jimmy". I think there's a strong possibility that Billie Joe is a TYR fan...
St. Jimmy's comin' down across the alleyway Upon the blvd. like a zipgun on parade Light of a silhouette He's insubordinate Comin' at you at the count of 1,2 – 1,2,3,4!
My name is Jimmy and you better not wear it out Suicide commando that your momma talked about King of the 40 thieves and I'm here to represent The needle in the vein of the establishment
I'm the patron saint of the denial With an angel face and a taste for suicidal
(Okay, maybe this verse doesn't apply:) ****************************************** Cigarettes and ramen and a little bag of dope I'm am the sonofab**** and Edgar Allen Poe Raised in the city under a halo of lights Product of war and fear that we've been victimized ******************************************
I'm the patron saint of the denial With an angel face and a taste for suicidal
(Are you talkin to me?! - I'll give you somethin to cry about!! - St.Jimmy!!)
My name is St. Jimmy – I'm a son of a gun I'm the one that's from the way outside now I’m a teenage assassin executing some fun In the cult of the life of crime now
I really hate to say it but I told you so So shut your mouth before I shoot you down ole boy Welcome to the club and give me some blood I'm the resident leader of the lost and found
It's comedy! And tragedy! It's St. Jimmy! And that's my name! (And don't wear it out!)
Now you tell me that with the exception of Verse 2, this couldn't be Hickok's theme song...
Does The Kid have one? Hmmmm... I think not.
