Super excited about this one. I loved the first one and paid to see it in the theater 7 times. (Yep, I was a crazy person, but I was going through a nasty divorce and I needed a good laugh, okay? Besides, it was matinee).
Thrilled that the whole cast is back again, and the trailer looks awesome!
I hear they filmed 3 while they were filming 2. Cool if it is really and in fact true!

This looks even better than the first one, if that's possible! Mr. C, being a huge Clash of the Titans fan (for some reason I can't understand) is excited because of the appearance of the Kracken (or however you spell that).

Mr. C, being a huge Clash of the Titans fan (for some reason I can't understand) is excited because of the appearance of the Kracken (or however you spell that). I'm curious, has Mr. Cali seen Clash of the Titans in the last 15 years? I remember loving it as a kid but then I watched it a couple of years ago and couldn't remember why I liked it. As for POTC: 2, I agree that it looks even better than the first. All the sea creatures look great. I wasn't impressed with the first one the very first time I saw it. I think the problem is we went to see it at one of the worst theaters in Memphis (because it was $3 a person, plus we got free styrofoam popcorn and a dixie cup-sized coke) and the audio was so bad I had to strain my ears to hear the dialogue, at least half of which I couldn't understand. But then I recorded it from Encore a while later and really enjoyed it. Right now, this is really the only huge Summer blockbuster I'm excited about. I still have my reservations about Superman Returns.

I saw the preview for the first time at X3, and I'm not excited. It looked too cheezy. But I'll DEFINITELY give it a chance.
The dress line in the previews is great. "I've got no dress in my cabin."

Yes, the dress line is pretty funny.
I'm concerned about Superman as well, Johnny. You aren't excited about Pixar's Cars? I thought you loved Pixar?

My favorite line in the previews is
Kiera Knightly (Elizabeth? I don't remember her character's name, and I just watched the 1st movie a few weeks ago) "The moment will come Captain Sparrow when you will have to choose whether or not to do the right thing."
Captain Sparrow: "I love those moments. I like to wave at them as they pass by."
Hee hee:)
I'm not concerned about Superman, but only because I know I will hate it (I am NOT a Superman fan at all), but will watch it because Mr. C is looking forward to it more than anything (He IS a huge Superman fan). It doesn't really look that bad, and Brian Singer is directing it (and I will be highly upset if he left X-Men to direct a movie that isn't good).
I don't know when the last time he saw Clash of the Titans was - but he made me watch Labyrinth just a few years ago (3 or 4) and still loved it, so maybe he would still love Clash. I dunno - I hated Labyrinth and have decided those types of movies are only good if you originally saw them as a kid.

Ms. Cali - I had the same exact feeling about Spider-Man when it was due to come out. And I went into the theater with that attitude. I ended up LOVING it! I'm not familiar with the comic book series, and I've never watched the cartoon - so I had really low expectations, and no excitement whatsoever. I think that helped me enjoy it more - because it really was/is a good movie. Well-written, exciting, sweet - I was impressed, and totally caught off-guard.
I think if Superman Returns turns out to be a "good movie" in general, it just might win you over.
I'm hoping it has the same effect for me. (Hmmm... if I go into it with high expectations that my low expectations will be exceeded, is that setting myself up for disappointment??? )

Yes, the dress line is pretty funny. I'm concerned about Superman as well, Johnny. You aren't excited about Pixar's Cars? I thought you loved Pixar? I'm looking forward to it, but as of now I'm not just overly excited. It's one that I'm hoping will exceed my expectations. The problem for me is that on the surface I'm not too intrigued with the storyline. Toy Story and The Incredibles all had well-written stories that I could really get into and follow. But I think I'll end up enjoying it more than I expect. Owen Wilson being the main voice will help a lot. There's other Summer movies that I'm looking forward to (such as Click)), but most of them just don't have that "Summer Blockbuster" feel to them. This just really feels like one of the worst years in memory as far as the big budget blockbusters go. I've mainly been filled with indifference.

But I HAVE read the comics, seen the tv show, the cartoon, the movies, watched Smallville, etc. I am married to a comic book geek, and because he liked it, I gave it all a chance. I remember liking the old Superman tv show (with George Reeves) when I was a kid. But despite giving it all a chance, I just don't like Superman at all anymore. The character himself doesn't appeal to me. I feel the same about Batman (and yes, I did love that movie - but that was because it wasn't at all comic book feeling and Christian Bale was in it. It was a different Batman than I was used to, and it doesn't look like that will happen with the Superman movie).
That said, I will be going to see it, and happily, because it's Mr. C's most anticipated movie of the year (if it were anything but this movie, I'd probably make him go by himself or with another friend).

Nikkiblue, yep, you ARE setting yourself up for disappointment if you expect your low expectations to be exceeded. But I have faith that if anyone can pull Superman Returns off, it's Bryan Singer. The problem is.....can it be done? ? I'm seriously thinking it can't due to who is playing Lois, that fact Lois has a kid, Superman took a "vacation" for several YEARS? Huh? I do like the fact that Kevin Spacey is Lex, but I agree with Johnny that, at least in the trailer, he seems to be a bit over the top. Hmmmmmmmmmm. My fingers are crossed. Well, Johnny, I'm not that impressed with the storyline of Cars either, but I liked the storyline idea of Monsters, Inc and I really didn't like what they did with it. I'm hoping Cars will be a pleasant reversal of that. I understand Mrs. Ms. Cali. I've never liked Superman much. Sure, I watched the first two seasons of Smallville and I've watched the Christopher Reeves movies, but my favorite comic book characters have always been Batman (Dark Knight version of course), X-Men (all about Wolverine), and Spiderman (he's just a great guy). But, I'm still seeing it just like you, and I'm hoping I will be pleasantly surprised about it been a good, decent movie in its own right. Here's hoping I won't be crying and moaning throughout the movie. Just because I'm getting paid to watch a movie does not mean it can't still be a painful few hours......oooooo, that's reminding me of the two times I watched When A Stranger Calls...........

Okay, Mrs. Ms. Cali. I gotcha - you have good reason to be Superman-ed out. I'm going into it only having seen the Christopher Reeve Superman movies when I was a kid, so I guess I'm not sick of him yet... All I really know is that he can reverse time... and really pull-off that whole blue-tights look.
D'Oh! Well, at least you're not sugar-coating it, FM. I appreciate that.
I'm looking forward to it, though, even if I end up disappointed. I wish Brandon Routh the best - I was one of the few people who had heard of him before this... he used to be on (gritted teeth) One Life To Live. (I swear, that's the only soap I'm partial to...)
Anyway, we'll see. I'm rooting for Singer to bring it home as well. Here's hopin'...

Sorry, I don't sugar-coat anything I'm not sure I could if I wanted to -- I'm too blunt Exactly! I have absolute faith in Singer -- it's the movie I'm worried about. He's a soap actor? Oh my word, that does NOT help my concerns at all.......
